The Epic interconnect range is the latest of the Wiltshire-based Chord Company's cables to benefit from an XLPE (Cross-linked Polythene) insulation upgrade, just like its upper-tier Signature series did last month, denoted by the X in the name.

Chord Company states that this "considered development of one of Chord Company's most versatile interconnects" perfectly complements the high-performance shielding architecture and proprietary ARAY conductor geometry technology fundamental to the EpicX ARAY.

EpicX ARAY builds on the Shawline interconnect (one-range-down) and benefits from heavier-gauge silver-plated conductors with upgraded geometry, plus increased shielding volume. Additionally, we're told that the company's ARAY mechanical tuning technology optimises the potential of the heavy-gauge conductors.

The cables are then terminated by ChordAlloy connectors in VEE 3 RCA, DIN or XLR configurations, which promise three benefits – lower intermodulation, full solderability and a tarnish-free finish.
Handmade in England to order, the Chord Company EpicX ARAY is available now priced at £420 for a 0.5m length and £520 for a one-metre length. Custom lengths/terminations are available to order.
