Cambridge Audio Launches Melomania A100 Wireless Earbuds

Class AB amplification and LDAC support bring true hi-fi credentials to Cambridge’s most advanced in-ear offering yet.

British audio brand Cambridge Audio has unveiled its latest true wireless earphones, the Melomania A100. StereoNET's Jay Garrett was on hand at the official launch event in London, where initial impressions of the A100 were very favourable. These compact earbuds promise to deliver the company’s signature hi-fi sound on the go, blending premium amplification with cutting-edge wireless tech and everyday comfort.

The A100 marks a milestone for Cambridge, integrating a miniaturised Class AB amplifier—the same topology found in the brand’s acclaimed CX and Edge Series hi-fi separates—into a truly wireless form factor. Paired with precision-tuned 10mm neodymium drivers, the result is said to be a more refined, musical performance, offering deeper bass, richer mids and clearer highs than typically expected from in-ear headphones.

Also on board is LDAC and aptX Lossless support for high-resolution wireless playback, alongside aptX Adaptive and AAC, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices and streaming quality levels. A new proprietary tech dubbed DynamEQ automatically adjusts frequency response at lower volumes to retain a balanced, natural sound, similar to classic loudness contouring, but more intelligently applied.

Noise control is handled by hybrid Active Noise Cancellation using both feed-forward and feed-back microphones, plus a Transparency Mode for when users want to let some of the outside world in.

Designed, tuned, and acoustically optimised at Cambridge Audio’s London HQ and live music venue Melomania, the A100 reflects over 50 years of hi-fi heritage while embracing modern user expectations. A full-featured Melomania Connect app allows for touch control customisation and advanced EQ tuning, including a 7-band manual equaliser and genre-specific presets.

The A100 also offers impressive battery life: up to 11 hours on a single charge (with ANC off), with an additional 28 hours from its slimline charging case. A 10-minute quick charge nets three hours of playback—ideal for last-minute top-ups.

Bluetooth 5.4 with Multipoint support enables seamless switching between two devices, while a six-mic array with environmental noise reduction helps ensure crisp call clarity.

Cambridge Audio’s Head of Product Marketing, Simon Osborne-Walker, told StereoNET:

A100 represents the culmination of everything we've learned about sound reproduction. It's hi-fi in your pocket—delivering audio fidelity you'd expect from our amps, but in a format that fits in your palm.

Launching alongside the Evo 150 SE and a refreshed Melomania Connect app, the A100 also carries Cambridge Audio’s new visual branding, signalling a fresh chapter for the heritage UK company.

The Cambridge Audio Melomania A100 is available now in Black or White, priced at £119 | €139 | US$149.99.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
