The Cabasse Pearl Pelegrina, named after the rare 55-carat pearl discovered in 1913 and dubbed "Incomparable", joins the Applause Award-winning Pearl Akoya and original Pearl along with the Pearl Sub to complete what the French brand proudly proclaims as being "the widest range of high-end connected speakers on the market" - The Pearl Collection.
Limited to only seventy pairs, it was conceived and custom-built by Cabasse in Brittany, North-Western France. The Pearl Pelegrina stands almost 130cm tall, with its sphere and base measuring 48cm in diameter.
Naturally, the Pearl Pelegrina features the famous Cabasse TCA (tri-coaxial aramid driver) present in La Sphere and Baltic V systems - comprising high, medium, and low-medium drivers.
This is further augmented by the new 30 cm patented HELD subwoofer, amplified by 1850 W RMS. Moreover, the four separate amplifiers in the flagship Pearl's system total 3700 W RMS per speaker, making the Pelegrina the first quadri-coaxial connected speaker to feature in Cabasse's catalogue.
Ensuring that the Pearl Pelegrina performs its best, no matter the room, the onboard CRCS (automatic room correction system) is calibrated via a speaker integrated microphone.
We are promised "exceptional sound reproduction" and "very high precision and purity and an impressive dynamic capacity". Cabasse underlines this by stating that the Pelegrina is capable of a 10 - 27,000 Hz frequency range and 134 dB: the equivalent noise level of an aircraft at take-off.
Connectivity is neatly hidden in the base and includes Ethernet, Wi-fi, Bluetooth, and USB. You also get SPDIF Optical, analogue RCA and balanced audio input. The onboard DAC will decode up to 768 kHz / 32 bits. You can operate the Pearl Pelegrina via the Cabasse StreamCONTROL application like the rest of the Pearl range, enabling multiroom connectivity with other similarly capable speakers.
The Pearl Pelegrina features a custom cut mirror-polished metal band that circles its sphere. Still, most will be drawn to the Lissajous curve stand, named after the physicist who 'made sound visible' and the logo accompanying Cabasse since its inception. Furthermore, each pair bears numbered plates to identity this special limited edition and comes with a lifetime warranty as well as a Bluetooth remote and Cabasse-branded covers.
The Cabasse Pearl Pelegrina retails for €25,000 per pair in glossy black or white and is available in France from October 2021.
