Finding the balance between preventing unwanted vibrations from affecting your hi-fi equipment and having that solution suit its environment can be challenging, with many rack designs leaning more toward the industrial than domestic. However, the Stax 2G boasts a "uniquely British, elegantly modernist aesthetic."

Blok Stax 2G Hi-Fi Rack

Blok has been around for over 20 years and was recently acquired by the Monitor Audio Group (MAG). The Blok Stax 2G is the first release under MAG and the first step of its relaunch.

Comprising three combinations of shelf and support finishes, the Stax 2 G's modular design, thanks to the option of three different shelf heights, including an "LP" version for storing records, should suit every eventuality.

Blok says the shelves and supports are designed to offer "optimal isolation" for your hi-fi system from pesky external resonances. Should you require further damping, the structure can also be filled with "inert acoustic material" by way of concealed rubber bungs.

Designed in the brand's headquarters in Rayleigh, Essex, the Stax 2G line is sympathetic to the original and promises to be simple to install.

Silicon isolation pads between each shelf further absorb unwanted resonances and vibrations carried through the shelves. Meanwhile, the adjustable feet, with the option of spikes or rubber pads, ensure your system is level, which is even more important if you employ a turntable and/or CD player.

The company states:

Each of the shelves has been chosen for their load strength and inherently positive acoustic properties, along with their physical design aesthetics – so that whatever electronics or source equipment is placed on them, they'll remain completely rigid.

The Blok Stax 2G is offered in three contemporary finishes: black glass with high-gloss black supports, natural ash plywood with satin white supports and subtle black ash plywood with natural walnut supports.

Now available, the Stax 2G starts at £225 per shelf, with the base costing £275 if bought separately. However, the Stax 2G 3 Shelf Collection (1 x Shelf Base, 2 x Shelf 170) costs £775/ €950, and the Stax 2G 4 Shelf Collection (1 x Shelf Base, 2 x Shelf 170, 1 x Shelf 220) is priced £1,050/€1,300.
