Pitched as a dramatised retelling of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Peacock's Bel-Air is already making waves. However, it's the supporting cast that has us keeping our eyes peeled.

It's behind you! Part of Uncle Phil's High-End MOON system just in frame
While some of us can still recite the lyrics to the theme tune (theme rap?) of the original featuring Will Smith, a more up-to-date telling of the story started to air this week. But it is the fact that Canada's MOON high-end hi-fi components were chosen as befitting the Banks' LA mansion that may get audiophiles tuning in.
Will Smith is the producer of Bel-Air, a full-on drama bringing up topics from climate change to politics. The set designers were tasked to find premium audio products for Uncle Phil's office and Carlton's bedroom that reflected their love of music as well as their status.

The result is that Uncle Phil's office is kitted out with a complete high-end system comprising a MOON 680D streaming DAC, a 740P preamplifier, a 610LP phono preamplifier and two 860A v2 power amplifiers. Pretty much what we enjoyed back at the UK Hi-Fi Show Live in Ascot, 2019 (above).

However, where UK distributor Renaissance was running it with an HW-40, Uncle Phil gets a more than capable VPI Prime 21 turntable (above) as his analogue source. Completing the system is a pair of Raidho TD2.2 loudspeakers (below) and we already know how good this pairing is.

Keeping it slick yet uncomplicated, Carlton's bedroom features a MOON ACE (below) for hi-res streaming as well as hooking up his VPI Cliffwood turntable.

Etienne Gautier, MOON's export sales manager, told StereoNET:
We were extremely flattered when the Bel-Air production team contacted us to say our products had been chosen by their set designer. Having seen how the products have been placed in Uncle Phil and Carlton's rooms, we couldn't be more delighted. On a personal note, The Fresh Prince is one of my favourite shows, so I am especially pleased to see our MOON systems in the new series.
We're the type of people who point out hi-fi components in films and TV shows, and it's always lovely when it appears that they have been put together sympathetically. Here, it sounds like Bel-Air's crew have their finger on the pulse.
