Breaking news as Ballfinger has released the first details about the M 002 P reel-to-reel tape machine.
Firstly, just look at that super-flat design. We are informed that this compact design has been focused explicitly for the player's horizontal operation.
Although compact, it will still take reels up to 30cm and will play ¼-inch stereo tape with 2 mm or 2.75 mm track width. The speed selector offers both 19 cm/s and 38cm/s options. The M 002 P has three motors, a belt drive capstan motor and then a pair of direct drive reel motors. These are powered by an external DC supply.
Other features include a manual, one-handed edit function, a high-resolution digital counter and the playback tape head goes direct to a balanced XLR output.
Price and availability
The Ballfinger M 002 P is slated for release in Summer 2020 and will be priced from €11598 (inc. 19% tax) with the optional IR remote coming in at €389.
