EscritorJuan Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I have recently gained an interest in Do It Yourself audio, and may be exploring this further. In the meanwhile, I have a pair of Martin Logan reQuests, a Mark Levinson ML-9 amplifier, Technics 1200 turntable with an Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge, and a Samsung Blu Ray DVD player. I am saving up my pennies for a Meitner MA-1 DAC and a good preamp -- most likely the Doge 8 SCR preamplifier. And, I'm thinking of eventually buying and building the kit to build the... PUREAUDIOPROJECT TRIO15 TB - OPEN BAFFLE LOUDSPEAKERS Has anyone had experience with these? And if so, do they give that "in the room" sound? I once owned a pair of Quad 57 Electrostatic speakers which were equipped with anti-arcing suppressors so the user wouldn't overdrive them, create an arc in the electrostatic panels and damage them. Thus, the highs were muddy, but the midrange was super sweet! I closed my eyes while playing a drama movie and experienced the chills, as it sounded as if Denzel Washington was talking in the room. I have never had that experience with speakers before or since! Together with a pair of subwoofers, they sounded pretty good, however, I had to sell them, as in order not to experience the clear high frequencies, I'd have to remove the anti-arcing devices and no doubt would have overdriven them (as I like to play at relatively high volumes from time to time). My Martin Logans sound pretty good, but there's an edge to them that I'm going to try and remove by having my electrician do a mod to the crossover. However, I also may sell them and try and build the PureAudioProject Trio 15s if they give that more "in the room" sound. Your thoughts? jca

Your thoughts? jca Hi, I went looking for info on the Pure Audio Project speaker on Stereonet and came across your old post. Was wondering if you ended up having any experience of these?
