VLC Issues

Featured Replies

Hey brains trust people,

Just wondering if anyone is having issues with running VLC on Macs I've used it for years with no issues until this year, I couldn't get it to run let alone install properly on my new Mac mini and then some of my older Macs started having the same issues although I've still got one that works, anyway I've had a look online there's not much about this issue.

Has anyone else had the same thing and did you find a work around for it?

Thanks

Seb

Hi Seb

VLC provided an update labelled 3.0.23 https://www.videolan.org/vlc/releases/3.0.23.html which apparently supports legacy Mac, ie

macOS 10.7 ➔ 23

I would say the work around for you, is to update to that release. there is a download as you scroll down the page in the link

VLC is working fine on my M1 Mac Mini, running Mac OS Tahoe 26.2

I'm running Tahoe as well it wouldn't work but maybe with this latest update it will.

You've got to be careful to download VLC from the videolan website and not from some third party sites.

Given you've got a new Mac Mini, you want the version optimised for their silicon CPUs:

VLC 3.0.23 for Mac silicon
