"ignore function"

Featured Replies

It seems the ignore function was removed in the recent upgrades. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

I appreciate the importance of streamlining systems but this was an important setting.

E.g. for recovering alcoholics, it would be helpful to avoid the prominent whisky and gin discussions in the activity feed.

We 100% agree, and were not aware that the software authors had removed the ability for this non-standard feature (it is a customised add-on created by 3rd party developers) to be reinstated.

It has already been reported by others to us (Support Forum) and as I use the feature myself, I am with you on this.

There is a semi-heated discussion by many community owners on the author's forum right now on this very issue. Right now, there is no view to this coming back, but we are applying as much pressure as we can to change that.

The only workaround I can suggest is creating a custom Activity Stream, excluding the forum where topics of concern exist, and making that your Default Stream. That will ensure you are not exposed to any threads you may not wish to see.

I will leave this here rather than the Support Forum so others that might have the same question will see the answer.

Please post in the Support Forum if any further assistance is required.

Quick Tip!

You can create your own Activity Stream to see only what you’re interested in. For example, you can create a custom stream that shows topics from specific forums (so you don’t see ones you’re not interested in) and/or ads from selected categories.

Follow the steps to create your own activity stream.

Go to

You’ll then be presented with the following form:

Essentially, you simply give it a name, select what you want to display, and configure additional options such as read status, solved state, default view, and more.

See this example: I want to create a stream that shows only new TOPICS and ADS, but I don't want to view topics from Currently Spinning Threads forum. Then:

Click the cog icon in the TOPICS row under Content Types to expand it, then choose the forums whose topics you want to appear.

So, for this example, all you need to do is select all forums and make sure the Currently Spinning Threads forum is not selected if you want to exclude its topics.

Save. Immediately, you'll see your stream:

To make it your default stream, simply click on

So every time you click on the Stream icon at the top right:

It will use your stream instead of the one selected by the admin.

If you don't want yours as the default stream, click again:

You'll still have access to it on:

I hope this helps you filter out certain content.
