ON request new/better? photos have been added - apparently NOS vintage dust not being in vogue...

FAMOUS pair RCALC1a 15" FR vintage speakers. 15 Ohms nominal and very efficent - alnico magnets best suited to low-mid power tube amplifiers -SE or PP

Extremely rare RCA full range speakers, some of you will be aware of them , very few have actually heard them . Rare and expensive in their home USA , rarely appearing on Ebay , even in the original ribbed cone MI -????? versions
Pretty unobtanium in Australia

Harry Olson is the much published RCA designer, a true Hifi genius spanning many decades , arguably being almost solely responsible for the wide frequency recording standard we enjoy today  . Famous for a concert hall demonstration of a (veiled ) live symphony orchestra on stage versus some of the RCA LC1A speakers . many /most of the audience couls not discern which was playing in blind audio tests and driven by low power 6V6 power amps. These speakers are pretty efficient

There are too many unique design features of these speakers to list here. These are in excellent vintage condition , checked maintained by an expert , the 7 asymmetric cone dispersion 'bumps' in good condition , the central HF unit and buttefly wings disperser are fine , no voice coil poling , damped suspension and felt spider damping all in excellent condition.
To my ear different , much more natural and notably better than Tannoys , Altec 604s, FR Hartleys , all coaxial JBL/Celestion etc- as I have all of these speakers for comparison

Speaker will be operationally demonstrated only, but are not mounted in boxes

For serious vintage buyers this may be the only pair of these speakers listed in Australia the next 5-10 years  -they appear in the USA in poairs about once annually

I will 'ship' at courier cost and risk , but prefer not to do this

Obviously you will do your own research ( the Harry olson articles are all available on line showing full engineering design and radial frequentcy response plots , numerous 'best of' assessments etc ,)  but you might also be interested in this site ,

Scotty moore/ Elvis' guitarist , where the 'furnace' cabinet of these speakers appears in many shots in the recording studio
