I've recently bought a low cost Douk valve pre-amp, with Bluetooth and DAC. I'm using TV and Spotify as source.

The speakers are a new DIY large 1.6m wide horn-based stereo "centre channel" type.  (The pic showing the wall panel with the word RELAX is where the speakers will be housed....then quality grill frame added.)

Dayton 8-inch Reference Series woofers used, along with SB Audience horns and compression drivers. First order xover at 1,500Hz for initial testing, with l-pad attenuator/dial. F3 is 36Hz, which is pretty good, given the size of the boxes and woofer. No need for a sub, as I don't listen to a lot of loud movies....plus I live in a unit complex.

The sound quality is very good. I have the pre-amp paired with a modest Rotel power amp.

Are many folks using these lower cost (but functional) pre-amps....and are some a lot better than others?

Regards
