Suburb or Town: Perth 6030 State: WA Payment Method: EFT, Paypal Reason for selling: Upgrade Further information: This fantastic Akai AM-2800 is up for sale as I have since purchased a big Sansui amp which is not going anywhere. It is in excellent condition and since buying it from another SNA member a few months ago, has been serviced at Liquid Audio so another $580 spent on top of purchase price. The power switch was unrepairable so Mike installed a power IEC switch at rear of unit. Great, powerful amplifier. Located in Perth, interstate postage is possible. Robertoh
Goodness, what a late'70s beast. Or maybe "what beastly goodness"!? Specs read impressively and I imagine it sounds impressive as well. (https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/akai/am-2800.shtml) Just on the specs and features (incl. midrange tone control and 2 phono inputs, one with adjustable impedance), it looks comparable with a Sansui AU-7900 of same era, but with the alloy+timber look, and this one is more affordable than any AU-7900 offered lately ... I imagine they were cross-shopped in the new market at the time. Edit: And I forgot to note: watt meters!! My inner late’70s teenager swoons ... the epitome of cool circa 1979!) GLWTS!
