Hello,

Looking for a 2 channel solid state power amp - something along the lines of a Krell / Bryston / Anthem.

My budget is around $3 K.  Thinking along the lines of :

Bryston 4B-SST2 ;

Anthem P2 ;

etc.

If you have one of these you're willing to part with, drop me a line !

Thanks

Hi all,

Thanks for the responses!

The Bryston does.. sit probably more within my interests..  I currently have an amp that's a bit smooth..  I'm looking for a more punchy, leaner, and less 'laid back' sound.

drteflon - thanks - looking at that other amp, it looks like the "ST" series Bryston..  hm..  could be an option - I've heard that these can be a 'hard' in the treble(?) but, interestingly, the advert at dtvforum mentions it's the first of the "SST" series..?  (Bit confusing.  Is it an "ST" or an "SST.. - quite a difference in terms of sound quality between the two!  I believe the mids and trebles were vastly improved for the SST..)  I'll see what he's got to say - thanks..

An fpb-600.. I think they call that ..'a dream'.

My goodness what I'd give for an amp like that!!!

A wee bit outside my budget sadly... :(

Anyone interested in a Proceed (Mark Levinson) BPA-3 (3 channel) as trade for Bryston/Krell or similar.? =) The Proceed is my current amp..

Cheers :)

Hi all,

I can assure you I didn't piggyback off the above posts in saying what I'm about to say =) but, I made contact with the eBay seller of the 4B-SST yesterday when he commenced his auction, and struck a deal with him on the spot at a  'Buy It Now' price.  So, I'm now the owner of a Bryston 4B-SST.

I'm sorry to those above who were watching the amp on ebay..  A thousand apologies...! :(

Thanks to all those who responded to my WTB here as well - I really appreciate your kind offers.

Will let people know how the amp sounds!

A ha! An amp p*ssing contest! Let's get it on haha!! :)

Nah in all seriousness, there are many amps out there that I'm sure are many times better! It's a rich world as far as what you can spend on high end end amps these days. Compared to the high end krells/levinsons, this little baby bryston is a drop in a big ocean :) I'm sure your Symfonia is great. I've never heard one myself but I have heard great things - it's a well known/regarded model. Good luck with your sale!
