Starting to get there...

Its been an incredible time over the past 18 months for many reasons, I used covid lockdowns here in Melbourne to venture into the world of Hifi (having previously only owning Sonos gear through my house).

Through this time there has been many learnings and countless debates on facebook pages :)

I am now at a stage where I am pleased with my set up with the exception of new speakers in the next 6 - 12 months (I know most people get their speakers first, I went the other route)

For those interested the below is a list of my gear...

Router end of listening room

  • Synology Nas (for local files).
  • SoTM sNH - 10G Network Switch - Gieseler Kraftwerk II Linear Power Supply.
  • I7 Nuc - 32 Gb Ram inside a Asaka Turing case - Gieseler Kraftwerk II Linear Power Supply.
  • Optical Fibre - Vertere Pulse - HB Ethernet RJ45 Cables.

Hifi Rack

  • Bonn N8 Silent Angel Switch  Gieseler Kraftwerk II Linear Power Supply.
  • Optical Fibre - Vertere Pulse - HB Ethernet RJ45 Cables.
  • dCS Bartock Dac.
  • McIntosh MA 352 Amp.
  • Synthesis Roma 79 DC Phonostage.
  • Rega P6 Turntable - Van Del Hul The Frog Cart (updating to have the RB3000 Tone Arm).
  • Kef R3 Speakers on Solidsteel SS5 stands.
  • Furutech - Speakerflux cables.
  • Furutech Power cables.
  • Isol - 8 Power boards, might be looking to update to Shunyata Delta Power Conditioner.
  • Van Del Hul interconnects.
  • Isoacoustics Isolation under most components.
  • Ben Burton Hifi Rack.

Its a great hobby but you do hate that upgrade urge :)

Thats a mighty fine system there @BWJA  I see you have followed Mr Darko's advise on putting some weight on the source devices :)

Thanks, and yes the most important and yet cheapest tweak known to man...

Its funny actually how many people I see that have done the same...

Early days my dealer sold me a Stillpoints @ $800 as a weight to reduce vibration and enhance the SQ :) :) needless to say I sold it....

Its odd and i have been told by a few that it was intended as a joke, but i have tested this with/without a weight on my streamer, and it worked!  More power to us i say.

Did the same tweak on my dual rel subs and as expected, using 10kg pavers on top of each sub and that tightened the sound a bit.  Not bad tweak for $10 outlay.
