There are still many processes to work through to have this all running smoothly. I think the idea of having a user choice between light/dark theme might be a good idea?

If there is enough interest I will have our developer put a dark theme option together. I personally prefer light themes but I know many prefer dark. Best to just offer a choice I think.

A choice of a dark theme will be nice. I am sure some of us will read during bedtime and not to disturb or to be discovered ?? by my partner.

Thanks

I prefer a dark theme anytime!

Just my humble opinions on the the change from Xtremeplace Forum to StereoNet....

Up-sides

- HK with more developed HFi scene vs SG developing HiFI scene yet SG was chosen...maybe this is what we call opportunities in crisis.

- Regional outreach to more audience outside of Singapore

- Employment creation.....engaging a local hifi enthusiast as the site manager (i guess he is paid....)

- Using newer platform technology

- Remains as free-to-use forum for public users

Down-sides

- Original forum flavours are diminishing due to commercial branding

- Re-learning to use new forum functions may take time

Cheers & hope for the best!

A big hullo to Marc and the new team! Great to meet new friends

I'm excited for the new developments that could be coming. I can see lots of possibilities.

Will stereonet gonna have online store or a local shop in SG? If yes, perhaps membership can be "expanded" e.g. exclusive rates for members or community reviewers or volunteers.

I like the fact that I can insert images n files now easily. And the huge array of emoticons. Great functions. ?

AND GREAT COMMUNICATION in this post on the changes. ?

Marc:
Try getting local reviews, and work with local merchants, they will be happy to have the business too. eg Peng aka Econav, alf, and many more are keen to keep the wheels of business running, whilst helping with the forum.

And I think you better recall some of the mods soon... I see a Russian invasion going on..

Wah! Here change until like this.

Now no more Xtremeplace ?

Makes sense to offer a choice of themes for those with vision restrictions or preferences...I myself prefer dark backgrounds I use a 55" 4K monitor and dont need to illuminate the whole room ?

I would prefer a darker colour scheme. It's easier on the eyes. It's too glaring now. Too sterile and clinical looking. Best if we can have options so we can set it to suit ourselves. Thanks!

My preference is for a darker color scheme as well if possible.  Thanks.

Was shocked initially and thought that Xtremeplace had been hacked and hijacked when I logged in and was presented with white screen and Stereonet logo.

But was reassured on further reading on new ownership and change.

Well I hope the integration works better than it did when StereoNet Australia acquired the AudioENZ forum in New Zealand.

There were difficulties in porting images and other content and quite a bit was lost.    Further participation from former AudioENZ members declined as the sense of "local" community was lost with the assimilation.

Hopefully things are different here with the benefit of time and experience and the .asia identity.

Just to clarify, from the NZ forums themselves nothing was lost at all, that wasn't already lost before we purchased AudioENZ.  We did all we could to restore old content but it was all corrupted before we even got access to it. Sadly, the AudioENZ forums were already long forgotten by most and there was zero active participation by the time we came along. All the content that was available is still within the ANZ combined forums now though.

Luckily, this community is thriving and things have gone more smoothly here in any case @1AngMoh ?

This is the first hour of my shell shock... I was still viewing (lurker) the original xtremeplace forum last week and just now I did three double takes to make sure my browser hadn't been infected by some browser hijacking malware!

Having said that, let me express my deepest gratitude to Queks through any of you who are in contact with him. Good or bad, xtremeplace changed my life since I joined early in 2003.

Queks, I thank you for your dedication in this great cause, I forgive you for the all poison you facilitated me to get tainted by, and I would hug you for all the positive experiences gleaned from the original xtreme members who crossed my path one way or other in the past 17 years! Live well and stay safe, and I hope you can sign up and remain in this forum for old times' sake!

Cheers!

A dark theme would be great...

Dark theme for me too....

I am partially blind now ?

Wow, didn't see this coming! I frequent both Stereonet and Xtremeplace, more so in the past (from the Echoloft days).

Many thanks to the moderators and teams running all these forums, to keep the hobby and industry active and vibrant, and moving with the times!

you haven't signed in for so long that you forgot your pw??

it feels strange...but then again, I hardly post so perhaps it doesn't matter

Yeah, forgot my password. And it wasn’t the email address that I thought I had registered! Maybe I will try from another computer which hopefully still has my login credentials. Lol

If you figure out your old account let me know and I can merge it with your new one.
