Bro, I think you should set everything on Oppo as "Auto"...that will be the best and let Vertex 2 handles the rest.

But still can’t get my Panasonic UB820 to play Gemini Man in LLDV 4K60.

I had originally set it to 4K60 4:4:4 which was recommended by HDTVtest a long time ago. And Deep Color at Auto (12bit).

I’ve tried different combinations of 4K60 4:2:0 and Off, and Deep Color to Auto (10bit) or Off. No go. The movie got past the warning screen I encountered yesterday but played at 1080p60 HDR.

At least switching to 4K60 4:2:0 now allows you to play my normal Dolby Vision 4K24 like Black Panther on the Panasonic. But I ended up switching it back to the original settings which I feel still looks better.

U mentioned “originally” able to set at 4K60 4:4:4 with DeepColor at 12bit. What cause it to deviate? Did you by any chance connect to another display output which is unable to output the full bandwidth?

It was a hunch that Dolby Vision was putting on more bits than 18Gbps could handle so I wanted to turn it down. Switching to 4:2:0 on the Oppo fixed it. (Earlier post). Thought the same trick might work on the 820.

Seems like your HDMI cable not able to support full 18Gbps bandwidth? If it does, a 4K60 should show 600Mhz.

The cable does work in 4K60 4:2:2 as shown on the Info screen on the projector. That’s actually displayed even though I set it to YUV4:2:0

But it has to do with enabling LLDV and 4:2:2 that somehow fails the LLDV on Vertex 2

Too bad I already sold my Panny 420, else I can help to confirm.

Doggie, it works for me... Panny 820 to Vertex 2 and Vertex 2 to BenQ W2700. Panny 820 is set to Dolby Vision and 4K60/4:4:4

On the last screen shot Video Format is set to 4K, not Auto. If I set it to Auto, it sometimes thinks the Vertex 2 is presenting a 1080p EDID

I was pretty sure it would work because I've set the ATV 4K to 4K/60p 4:2:2 Dolby Vision with Match Content set to OFF through the Vertex2 and it would display everything in 4K/60p Dolby Vision including the User Interface.

Thanks. I’ll give it a test shortly.

This was my old setting. I switched it to 4K instead of Auto.

Switching to 4K works fine now. Lol. The one time Auto doesn’t work

Glad you resolved it :)

I figured out how to get the Amazon Firestick 4K to upconvert everything (SDR, HDR) to Dolby Vision. You go into the Video section of Settings and you set Dynamic Range Settings to Always HDR. So, yet another device is equivalent to the ATV 4K and Oppo 203, except on sale, its just USD25  ;D

Excellent sleuth work there! As always thks for sharing with the members here. The next one I'm eyeing is the new Zidoo Z9X media player that does DV based on the latest RTL chipset. This one should be able to invoke LLDV when used in conjunction with Vertex 2.

May I know how do i get rid of scenes where some of the actors face has a "glowing" effect?  Like neon light kinda of effect? What's the setting should I adjust? Thanks.

Are you watching native DV material or are you up concerting SDR/HDR to LLDV?

Over on AVSForum, someone asked HD Fury if there would be a cheaper device to spoof the Sony A1 EDID and invoke LLDV. This was the reply:

It depends the purpose...

- If it's just presenting LLDV EDID, then sure DR.HDMI 4K will work and its the cheapest solution.

- If you need to present LLDV EDID and send custom HDR at the same time, then cheapest is LINKER (but i would recommend Integral2 instead)

- If you need to present LLDV EDID, send custom HDR automatically and stop sending it automatically when LLDV play back stop, then Vertex2 is cheapest solution, until ARCANA comes out. Note that Arcana won't have all DV datablock tweaking options available on Vertex2/Diva/Maestro

So the much cheaper DR. HDMI is usable, if you can force your display into HDR mode (not possible on BenQ, which needs a string to trigger HDR) and keep everything in LLDV i.e. forget permanently about SDR. LINKER will work as long as you don't want to switch back and forth between LLDV and HDR10. Lastly, a new product is coming in September called ARCANA, which will do what Vertex2 does, but is cheaper.

Perhaps winwinc81 can get us Singapore pricing on DR HDMI, LINKER, Integral2 and the upcoming ARCANA. I would also like to enable DV on my Panny OLED in the living room and if there is a cheaper way to do it instead of the Vertex2, I'm all ears. Especially since I now know that I can drive it with just a Firestick 4K instead of the much more expensive ATV 4K.

I observed this issue both on sdr and hdr material. But when I pause to try to take a photo, it disappear. Quite annoying and I really appreciate if can help me to resolve this issue.

Never encounter such anomaly before. If take stills cannot, then may take a short vid. Then playback and see if you able to capture that one scene. Hard to visualize what you say.

In addition to video also well worth showing the settings of the Vertex.

Thank you tsammyc and my apology for being not able to help with the order as the Arcana is unavailable for distributor at this point in time. It is however open to public. HQ side do have their reasons as they will want distributor to sell only the final and stable version of the product.

We have update that they have cooler features in their pipeline though heh heh.[emoji41]

So far Vertex 2 still the most options to play with for the tweakers in this thread :) well at least there won't be a time where it comes a point that your options are being limited by the hardware... yet

Just pre-ordered the Arcana from HDFury. It seems to do all the Vertex2 does for LLDV i.e., present EDID of Sony A1 and send HDR signal, but without the HDMI switching for $155 on special preorder price.

https://hdfury.com/product/4k-arcana-18gbps/

Expected in September

Yes Arcana is a new product.

Thinking to buy this Arcana $155 standalone preorder price.

Will this work for the BenQ W2700 which Vertex2 does for LLDV?

Thanks so much.

Yes. As long as your projector support HDR.

Thanks noted. :)

Just made the trigger as now reaching 7xx pre-orders already.

I guess if one need more HDMI ports connections,

will need to look out for an extra 4K passthrough switch bundle though.

Cheers.
