No hurry lah, wait until all the Oled quirks are resolved then change :)

I’d say the FALD Sony ZD9 is IMHO just as capable. And without these issues like banding. And even brighter HDR. and no worries about burn in.

I agree with you that if I pick an LCD/LED for the upgrade it has to be FALD and at least a 75 incher and above :)

I still like the brightness and myriad HDR color tones of LCD vs the Oled!  Yes, contrast is slightly better on the Oled but that's not a deal breaker for me :)

Seems like both LG and Samsung is launching new FALD models in 2018. For ZD9, my contact at Harvey Norman told me they are clearing a display set of 65inch ZD9. However, not cheap.......

I would probably skip the ZD9 and wait for the dust to settle on HDR10+ maybe on the replacement X9400E

Wah display set still not cheap arh.

My friend was telling me that the cost from Sony is very high, so their margin is gone but still need to recover cost. I was given an indication of price to be around 5.5k or so.

See more pics of the vertical banding on my TV 63deb774e021187e74cda3f2974deed5.jpgd08e41f566fb337cddefe72f4b330a9f.jpg

See how the banding matches.

Bro, that's really bad and I would recommend that you bang tables and demand a replacement! :-[

I intend to do it. Comparing with the few that posted their 5% slides here, mine is much worst.

Will keep you posted here. If LG does not want to solve this problem, then many will know not to take the risk to buy an LG OLED.

Sony is always high handed. And ZD9 is not even obsolete. Maybe that's why they are still so firm on pricing.

Hi sevenz, if you can post your picture here, it is better. I'm using this thread to proof my point.

Thanks everyone for helping me in this matter.

Happy to. Here's mine. Hope this helps!

sevenz, can you take a picture with all ambient lights off?

Yes, I took my pics at night with all the lights off. And the screen at 5% can be seen clearly. Only challenge is the phone camera have hard time focusing.

2nd photo is more or less with ambient off. If turn off everything then it will be pitch dark can't see anything haha

Or should I turn of everything then use the dynamic setting (which creates some light from the tv)

2nd picture still has light reflecting off the small item on the bottom left, and also on the curtain on the right, there is definitely still a fair amount of ambient light.  it's easier to see the result of 5% grey (no need dynamic contrast to be turned on) with zero ambient light.

Won't really be pitch dark, but you can use a brighter setting. Or try this 10% slide:

Oh I posted it in the old post.

I've transferred it to the previous post. Can see?

no

Can see your pic now, Sevenz.  Your screen is very clean. Congrats, you have a good piece.

hope this helps in your escalation to LG bro.

i find it very irresponsible for LG to say they dont cover such symptoms. very unprofessional esp on those sets that are obvious.

saving cost i can understand... but it should not affect the value of being accountable to your customers and product quality.
