tiktokape Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Who's the programmer behind this custom firmware I wonder? And if firmware can be updated by user himself rather than lugging the set to the shop will be a plus point. Sent from my SM-P905 using Tapatalk second that on custom firmware concern. I hoped to avoid slow or no support in future which may turned out negatively. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
desray Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 second that on custom firmware concern. I hoped to avoid slow or no support in future which may turned out negatively. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yeap...it is no longer whether the player can display top notch PQ as that is a known fact...but rather the new custom firmware which ironically is the pushing force which might increase new user base. But at the end of the day, the frequency and reliability of the custom firmware did not meet the expectation...then this will be a shame IMO. I dun wish see an anti climax to all this hype but fail to bear fruits at the end of the day. The fact that cinavia bug still exist is not that attractive anymore...SACD-R playability still can wait. desray Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I think the sudden surge in queries for SLT can be rather overwhelming at first sight, I guess we should allow them to have some time to "digest" it and hopefully some good news awaits by the end of the week :P

petetherock Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Oppo 103D/105D now support 4k/60fps video For Oppo 103D and 105D owners (not the older 103/105 as they use the Marvell chip vice Silicon Image), Oppo just added a beta firmware update to their website to allow the 103D and 105D to pass 4k/60fps video with the official firmware update likely available by the end of May to allow for 4k/60fps support (not full HDMI 2.0, rather just the 4k/60fps). https://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-103/BDP103-firmware-75-0430B.aspx

Doggie Howser Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I know everyone is kancheong about this but I suspect SLT needs to get the go ahead from oppo. I suspect the jailbreak firmware is from oppo (unofficially) so it's a very difficult political decision that can piss off the bluray consortium. I'd be happy to wait if this is done right. Being an owner of the Pioneer 450, I can confirm that the third party jailbreak can be quite problematic so I'd rather wait for it to be done right by Oppo themselves than rushed and buggy.
Audio Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I got a Popcorn Hour A410 and a Dune 3D sitting on top of my Oppo 105. It would be great if I can get rid of the 2 media players. :) (Audio)
DizzyD1624705734 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Honestly I can't and don't expect Oppo to allow their dealer to authorise JB which run counter to the BD alliance protocol. I certainly don't expect SLT to be asking Oppo for permission or informing them. My guess is that SLT negotiations with the JB seller is not going on well and hence radio silence. JBing needs the unique MAC address of each player in order to work so possibly quite a huge task to make it operationally available for us. My predictions and I am wrong.
