One damn solid superhero movie.... This movie begs to be watched on IMAX. I watched it at GVMax vivo and somehow the screen aspect ratio seems a little weird. If I can sneak out one day, I will watch it again at IMAX.

Hi guys, did you watch all the way past the credit? Who is the next villain in that part?

Thanos.

Yes I feel weird too. This is few blockbuster movie which the aspect ratio is 1.85:1 (Widescreen) format.

most of the blockbusters and in fact the movies are all the heroes in Avengers are in 2.35:1 (cinema scope) format.

I don't know about it until when I watched the movie last night.

If I know earlier about the aspect ratio of this film, I may watch in GV Plaza or GV Vivo which are in widescreen format.

I watched at GV Bishan and I feel that the screen is so damn bloody small

I just watched this at Cineplex in Victoria Point. I think including the missus and I, there were only 6 people in the cinema so I got to sit smack in the middle. Great for a 3D flick. The biggest screen is over 25m or something but even in the "smaller" theatre I was in, it was still huge. But I sure hope they stay afloat so I can keep coming back.

I have watched all the other "prequel" movies to this, some, like Captain America only a month or two ago on BluRay so I felt "caught up" with the characters. I think the biggest problem with a "cast of thousands" movie like this is how to develop each character and flesh them out enough. Think Xmen 3 as an example how not to do a "team superhero movie" where they just threw every superhero they could into one movie. Probably a Guinness World Record for that.

I think Marvel wisely put the back stories on individual movies. So while I may not have been over-wowed with Captain America or Thor or Iron Man 2, seeing these movies as a complete saga, it's a bit more satisfying.

And with Avengers, they can now throw you pretty much straight into the action from Act 1. The only character development you get are of Black Widow and Hawkeye, the only two who have not had their own movies prior to this, even if you see glimpses of Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and Hawkeye in Thor.

The premise is simple: aliens invade earth, and the heroes are assembled to protect the Earth or rather downtown Manhattan. It's not as epic as some of Marvel's big story arcs but for the running time of a movie, I think it's condensed sufficiently. They have managed to tie in loose endings from Thor and Captain America to set up this new movie.

At the back of my mind, I kept trying to figure out how they were going to get that team to fight off flying aliens that I saw from the trailer when really, only Iron Man and Thor can be airborne but even that conundrum was sufficiently addressed to me. I don't envy Joss Whedon for trying to put the action across in a believable and still action packed fight sequences in the air and on the ground but between him and the writers, I think they pulled it off.

SPOILER ALERT

Hulk v Thor is one of the most satisfying fight mashups in Marvel-dom and I thought that initial fight was just a nod to the fans. I particularly liked how the Hulk childishly decided to flick Thor a punch after they had just worked together to bring down the alien ship. Good thing I had just swallowed my sarsparilla or I would have snorted that out through the nose.

I liked the good use of humour. Tony Stark's quick wit was back in form after a dismal Iron Man 2 so his bantering with Potts was always fun to watch and more reminiscent of the first Iron Man which I thought was quite glorious as a genesis story.

I also liked how Joss Whedon kinda put in place the group dynamics that could eventually lead to a Civil War break up between Cap and Stark.

I just watched finish this movie.

I'm still wondering how Thor came back to Earth? I thought the portal had been destroyed?

I don't really understand this.

Other than this, it is freaking AWESOME!!!!!

You didn't hear what Loki said?

Possible spoiler...

Loki said that Odin must have used the last bit of his power to send Thor to earth and he needed the tesseract to send him back.

Best Marvel movie ever.... Second would be X-Men: 1st Class. Joss Whedon should take over Fantastic Four movies and X-Men movies.. Would really rejuvenate the 2 titles..

Yes I agree.

I thought Edward Norton is much better than Eric Bana, but Ruffalo beats him.

I really enjoyed this one yesterday - I thought the 3D effects were done quite well and it didn't feel like a rip-off. I'm planning to watch it again, in about 2 weeks time, on the IMAX screen :)

Got lots of good feedback on this movie. Im watching this friday. Was this scene included?

I enjoyed the movie for it's entertainment value, especially the sense of humour component. Some of the acting is really quite good with Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson standing out from the crowd.

Personally, I'd still go and see an Iron Man movie of the same quality as the first one, rather than something like this. Iron Man is just slightly more believable and relevant than Gods and green men ;).
