Hi, what seats are these? Looks like what I would get for my new place. Thanks in advance!

Eames lookalikes

Originals will cost around 8k

Lookalikes around 800-1.5k, depending on quality.

The better ones are quite comfy.

Look at Lush for local ones, or Taobao for cheaper ones.

Thanks matix. And that price killed any hopes of me buying that chair. LOL

Yeah pete, I am contemplating that already when I showed it to my wife. She told me i'm SJB. Shen Jing Bing.

Stressless chairs are cheaper and more comfy - around 2k

If given a choice, I will get a recliner with a headrest like those in the car so that the rear surround speakers are not blocked.

I find my stressless 3-seater headrest really too big. Like a wall of cushion. Bought it when I was having 5.1

Those with big headrest, do u feel that u cannot hear the rear well?

No issue with mine.. but I have a long torso which means my head sticks out ..

For good value and comfy Recliner, check out seahorse. Real leather, less than 1k for 3 seater of it recall correctly. But same problem of high headrest blocking and reflecting sound. I also compromised on sound for comfort.. Haha

To seat comfortably, you need at least the 2 arm rest ....

..so 3 seater is a no no to me.

+1 on the armrests :)

Just sharing some info from my own sofa hunt:

For HT fans, you should get a comfy sofa, which is far more important than just the looks. After all you will be seated there for hours on end.

Avoid chairs / sofas which have too high backs and cover the sides too much as they will block the sounds from the rear speakers.

Remember the chair should allow you to sit with your eyes at the same level as the centre of your screen.

For under 2k, you can get a decent 3 seat sofa.

A SEAT FOR EVERYONE

The Straits Times was loaned three single-seater recliners from separate retailers and staff from the newsroom reviewed the recliners over one week. Here are the results.

MOST VALUE-FOR-MONEY

Peyton Power Lift Recliner (retail price: $1,399; promotional price: $599), available for pre-order at Courts stores

The most affordable option on this list comes from retailer Courts.

This recliner is one for the family to share as the power lift feature allows the chair to be tilted slightly forward - perfect for elderly users who might sometimes struggle to stand from a sitting position.

The remote for the recliner was also praised by reviewers for being easy to use.

Another draw is the wheels attached to the legs, which make the chair easy to move around.

MOST LUXURIOUS

Silhouette Chaiselo (retail price: $7,700; currently available at 54 per cent discount for National Day), available at the Chateau d'Ax showroom (01-01 Palais Renaissance, 390 Orchard Road)

This roomy recliner from premium Italian upholstery brand Chateau d'Ax scored the highest for comfort among all the products reviewed.

Made in Italy using quality leather and fabric and crafted in a sleek, modern design with several colour choices, this is the splurge option. At 86cm wide, which is close to the width of a single-size mattress, it more than makes up for its lack of arm rests - it can comfortably double as a bed for afternoon naps.

MOST PRACTICAL

Homer 1-Seater Fabric Sofa (retail price: $1,450; promotional price: $888), available online at www.cellini.com.sg and at Cellini showrooms (various locations)

Equipped with a USB port for charging one's electrical devices, this recliner from home-grown furniture brand Cellini is one that seems the most practical.

Made with a stain-resistant fabric called Fabricgard, which is said to be resistant to fraying due to clawing pets, this is a good option to consider for parents and pet-owners.

As the Homer inclines the seat forward and outwards, it allows for a full-recline position even if the chair is placed against a wall.

mine is 3 seater recliner, bought from IMM, shop tel: 6563 0092; I don't put the name and address here in case it violates forum rules.

Pros:

  • The recliners are modular so can mixed and match to different configurations. Even the width of seats and the hardness of the cushions can be customised.
  • You can choose auto-recline (need power) or manual recline - can mix and match again for your own preference.
  • Inexpensive - Quite affordable

Cons:

  • The leather is kinds hard, it's not uncomfortable, however, it could be more relaxing if softer. Just my personal preference.

Hope that helps.

May I know where's the recline controls for the middle seat?

My 2 seaters are at the sides, where will the center control be?

So the center guy will need to corner guy to press for him?

While looking for mine recently, came across a model that Cellini has. Cannot remember the model name. The control for the centre is hidden between the centre and left seats.

In the end, i settled for a 2 seater but position it off centre so that the right seat is in the centre. I could do it as we have a massage sofa beside it. Lol

bro Chaozhoi, look at the picture carefully, the two buttons are on the right hand side of center seat, whoever sits in the center can easily slip fingers into the gap between center seat and right hand side seat to access the buttons.

Looks nice

Do you all get any back pain isn’t prolonged sitting

The seat cushion looks a tad long?

So far so good, no complaints from CFO, I feel it quite comfortable too, though not as comfortable as the sofa in my living room, however, all 3 recliner seats is more important to me. [emoji2]
