good question. now i am curious too ;D

y cannot c the user who vote? haha

Wahaha, age is a secret and this doesn't just applies to the women :D

Guess that under 40 group is the highest as compared to the rest & also increasing numbers for under 30.

like wise i think group near 40 and above should have pretty hi end hifi.  ;D

Majority will be at 21 - 40 cos this age group frequents forums and not necessarily just hifi?

21-30 with Mcintosh/Meridien/B&W800s -> lawyers/doctors/bankers

60 & above with Mcintosh/Plinius/Meridien/B&W800s -> retired lawyers/doctors/lawyers

Under 20 with Mcintosh/Plinius/Meridien/B&W 800s -> have parents who are lawyers/doctors/bankers  ;D

21 to 40 , all got bankers behind them .....

40 to 50 , bankers stand beside them .....

50 to 70 , bankers dare not stand around them ........    ;D

Surprisingly there is no under 20s yet....all still playing with headphones and earphones i suppose? :D

Under 20s play creative altec lancing sonic logitech. They freq computer and games forum more often.

And we have 2 seniors above 60 here whom I must congratulate for their staying power in this music and hi-fi hobby.

Myself am in the 50-60 age group, and have been in this hobby for almost 35 years.  But with no guarantee that  my hearing or vision will last another 10 years for me to stick around with music. Need good eyes to play analog. Or for that matter, no guarantee that I will even be around 10 years from now!

actually i think there is quite a good spread of professions here.. :) many of whom are willing to spend on hifi.

thought one of the youngest chaps in echoloft was hacknet, when he was still in poly.

saw him at one of the last ISSE shows, representing some shop.

when i was sixteen i was given a pair of chario academies and a jolida kt88 amplifier, come to think of it i was using it for techno then  :P :P

i got my 1st hifi setup when i was 14.. tannoy bookshelves + cyrus integrated amp.i remember just using it to play PC games like C&C via soundblaster card and play mod files.. :P the setup is still alive in someone else's house in aus, and still can sing..

I'm in the 40-50s group. Got myself into this 'hobby' after spending many hours hanging outside Pertama showroom! First setup was also from them! A Denon amp with Mission speakers! Can't even remember what happened to that setup ! It is truly nostalgic to recall those good old days....

I first heard the Micro Acoustics FRM 1 at Kwang Sia Record Shop next to Adelphi.

It took me several months to save enough money to buy it from Tat Chuan.

List price was USD$149, I think I paid SGD$750 or $850 for the pair, too long ago........... cannot remember well.

The year was 1974 or 1975

But, none the less............... sweet memories

Hey I frequented there too!! Always liked the big speakers from the ceiling, and the long arm turntable arm. LPs went for $9.50. I still have some of the LPs and play them too.

first serious hifi setup - 1992 - Audiolab 8000A amp, Arcam Alpha CDP & Bose 301s (with KimberKables).

16 here.  ;D

My current set up consist of a Rega P3 with Blackbird cartridge, an old Marantz tuner and a diy-ed F4 amp driving a pair of Fostex 206.
