Guys,

Need some help here. Some kind relative has decided to give me the following list of equipment which is about 4 years old. Please spare me a moment and see which a/v equipment is worth salvaging that I can build a modern projector based HT system around.

1) Projector-- vidikron model TGS550, italy made

2) Screen -- abt 150cmx 250cm

3) Woofer -- USA Triad Power-sub, 1pc

4) Subwoofer-- Yamaha YST-SW120, 1pc

5) Front Speakers-- B&W model DM604, 2pcs

6) B&W centre speaker 1 pc

7) Denon AV Surround Amplifier AL24

8) BMB Digital Echo AV Amplifier DA-X2

9) Sigma AV Processor

10)Audio LAPAS AL368

11)Sony LD player

12)BMB LD/cd/Vcd player

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

I am not familiar with the rest of the stuff, but I'd keep the B&W speakers.

ps how come got woofer and subwoofer one??

:-)  I know. I've only seen all the stuff once. A subwoofer is a subwoofer right? I'm not a bass nut, so I'd try the Yamaha sub first. Thanks for the input. So the projector is not worth keeping eh?

Vidikron is a pretty high end expensive brand. I just not familiar with it.. dunno specs etc. But the thing is that new higher spec projectors appear every 6-12 months, it is hard to say how good an older projector is. If you are on a budget, and the bulb life is still usable, why not keep it first and see if it really needs upgrading.

Ditto with the other gear

ps I think AL24 is a processing system in higher end Denon amps. The amp itself is probably called something else.. AVR-xx/AVC-xx etc

pps no surround speakers??

Triad Subs are very decent Subs as well.

Thanks guys for all the replies. I've just gone to see the equipment. the projector is massive but is really old. Its got connections for vcr! no component, much less hdmi. the b&w speakers look great, also the triad sub. Will look into the sigma a/v processor. what does that do?

Looks like I might have to buy a new projector and screen. I'm really lazy to set all of it up though.

thanks again everyone.
