Guest Jerry Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 Well, this is more than a laugh-a-minute movie. The intricate, moving and often humourous plot, the fine performances from the 2 leads and the music score almost make it a must-see movie this month....considering the trash Hollywood is producing nowadays like Scorpion King, Showtime and Dragonfly. That is until Spiderman..... ;D
dna1624705732 Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 u know one thing catches alot of Korean shows is that the music really fits the scenes very very well. and to me, the texture of music is always so refined, unlike HK shows which always anyhow put any music at the bg. oh ya shows like II MARE is also recommended. Fantastic idea though it is slow indeed but in terms of movie pace, HK shows will excel, but so what? what for rushing right? HK show directors really 'spoilt' alot. but undeniably there r impressive HK shows also. such as LAN YU, Tempting Heart (my fav!), BEijing Rock etc.
ntuc Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 Saw today newspaper, this LAN YU might get a chance to screen in singapore. but due to the theme, have to keep ur finger cross.
Guest Gadgetboy1624705735 Posted April 14, 2002 Posted April 14, 2002 Thanks, I do intend to catch it in the cinema first. :) Btw, you haven't told me where you get this title from... is yours the tin box one? The tin box version is already OOP in Korean. But the extras are similar to this current 2-disc set. BTW, this is the Director's Cut on DVD. The cinema version will be slightly shorter. Will PM u the link. ;D Can you pm me the link to buy the DVD too? Thanks

W Posted April 15, 2002 Posted April 15, 2002 I did not even take notice of this movie until I read this post. Sounds like a nice movie. Would like to know if the oem version is avaiable so can 'test' it out first if good before getting the original dir cut version.

To my knowledge, there is no OEMs for new Korean movies.

Deepblue1624705734 Posted April 15, 2002 Posted April 15, 2002 Anybody tried using this online retailer? http://www.hkflix.com/home.asp
spazcowboy Posted April 16, 2002 Posted April 16, 2002 alamak. really regretted not getting the vcd when i was in beijing two weeks ago. :'( boohoo..... bought half a dozen of korean movies but missed out on this one. still kicking myself for this mistake. ;D went to watch it at the cinema over the weekend. really liked the movie, though the pacing was a wee tad off between the 1st half and 2nd half. The Director's cut should be even more interesting. :) by the way, BLADE II rocks!!!!!!! :) these two movies really made my weekend. ;D

The tin version and the 2-disc special edition r exactly the same in terms of extras and quality. Why waste more money on the tin?
KazeLF Posted April 16, 2002 Posted April 16, 2002 This thread really sparks my interest in this show. Perhaps DDDhouse will have the cheaper R3 version soon. :P
pschia Posted April 16, 2002 Posted April 16, 2002 I saw this show at the cinema too and liked it. I like 'My Wife is a Gangster' too. Going to order both from YeonDVD too since they seem to charge less for the dvds and postage. Luckily I already have a PayPAL account. Anybody ordered from them before? How's their service like?

This is the first time I ordered from them. After placing the order this afternoon, I drop them a email asking if they will inform me when they ship out and how long it will take. So far no reply from them... see if I get one tomorrow.
pschia Posted April 16, 2002 Posted April 16, 2002 lingcw: Thanks. I just sent in my order. Keeping my fingers crossed and hope that they are reliable.

lingcw Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 lingcw: Thanks. I just sent in my order. Keeping my fingers crossed and hope that they are reliable. Ok, just receive a reply from them. My disc has being shipped Wed morning (their time) and they say I should get it on Sat if I'm lucky. Else early next week. Will post here when I recieved it.
pschia Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 lingcw: I didn't get any e-mail confirmation from them that they even received my PayPAL payment. Did you get any? Or is it that we have to e-mail them to enquire if we want to get feedback from them on our orders?
