Item: PCM58 Non Oversampling DAC.

Location: Croydon VIC

Price: $150

Item Condition: fully working.

Reason for selling: NLR

Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only

Extra Info:

I bought the board from eBay about 10 years ago. I mounted the board in an old Behringer europower amplifier chassis -  Functional, not fancy. It has three mains transformers. There is no mains fuse. So whoever buys it needs to be mindful of this. It doesn't comply with any electrical safety standards.  Although it's all working it's best bought by somebody who is familiar with electronics and DIY.

sound...  I preferred it to my many TDA1541 NOS DACs. Which is why I sold my TDA1541 NOS DACs ages ago and held onto this one so long.

HDAM output stage.

Dual mono design.

Oscon capacitors decoupling the DAC chips. Silmics in the PSU and various film caps.

Schematic supplied to buyer.

plays sample rates up to 96khz

Very nice sounding DAC, I have a dac with pcm58p my self.

More organic sound then pcm1704 I had. Definitely over TDA1543

I currently run a NOS TDA1543 Phillips based DAC from starting point, but if I was in the vicinity - I would certainly pick this one up. For comparison if nothing else, but I suspect it's something I'd stick with.

@zippi

If you like 1543, this is a DAC you'd love. It's got the same sort of smoothness, but with increased clarity.

But, shipping isn't a great idea.

My thinking/expectation exactly.

The cost may be the least of the problems. Parcels get treated co "nicely" these days that it's anyone's guess what state of repair it'll arrive in.
