DarrenW Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Do any of you know if Foxtel will enable the ethernet port on non HD IQ boxes? Thanks.
davmel Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Do any of you know if Foxtel will enable the ethernet port on non HD IQ boxes? IQ1 boxes had the feature enabled at the start of December, you still have to ring up and get it activated though. Older IQ STB's obviously can't have it activated as they don't have an ethernet socket.

Assuming two out of two is a reasonable strike rate to indicate they are not ready, is there any 'special' advice that should be provided to convince them? Edited December 17, 2010 by gonda

Sounds like the same stupid uninformed CSR's are talking rubbish just like they did all through October insisting that it would be active for IQ2 only in November when it was activated on Oct 1. Others have confirmed IQ1 is available now: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-repli...09&p=8#r155 I guess you just have to keep trying until you get a CSR that is correctly informed and will pass you on to the correct activation department.
SCAT01 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Just a question about the NP204: NetComm powerline adapters I have two IQ2 boxes in different rooms (with the router being up stairs) Therefore I would need at least 3 adapters to get connected (one connected to the router, the other 2 to the IQ2's). My question is.... can you have 1 of the adapters connected to the router and then the other two paired to this one? Or do the adapters only connect in pairs? Cause from what I have read http://www.netcomm.com.au/netcomm-products...UT_NAME=support You can have more than 1 adapter paired to the one connected to the router. Another question is.............does it need to be on the same circuit. Cause I have a funny feeling my upstairs and downstairs plugs are on different circuits. Meaning I can switch them off independently from each other from the main power box.

It says its now available for IQ and IQ2 boxes. There's a 2 page ad on page 50 that gives a phone number to call to activate it: 1300 797 716 There's also a flyer with the mag with a different number: 1300 650 826
Magnets_77 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Just phoned to have this service enabled on my IQ2 HD. The first guy I spoke to said that I couldn't add the service unless the Foxtel box was within 3 metres of my modem. I explained that I had a decent home network and it was connected by an ethernet cable already well within the 100m maximum distance. He insisted that 3m was the longest it could be. Eventually he put me through to the next level of support. I explained what he had told me, and was advised that they only send out a 3m ethernet cable, so if I was already cabled, I was good to go. 2 mins later he enabled the ethernet and it's all working now. I really wish the Customer Service reps would go through training on how the systems actually work.
SharP Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I called to activate it last week. I havent connected to internet yet though because I am yet to buy the wireless network dongle for IQ2. When I go to on demand it says to activate this service call Foxtel. Is this normal? Because I already activated it, souldnt it be something like "connect network cable" or "no network found" etc?
peterca Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I'm considering buying the Foxtel EOP device (Netcomm NP204) to connect my IQ2 to get On Demand over the internet. As this device only has 1 ethernet port can I connect it to an ethernet switch to enable me to connect multiple devices?
deantorquay Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 hey, im sorry, but this is irrelevant, but does anyone know the name of the song on the current 'ARENA' 2011 promo. be great if someone could find it.
trebo36 Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I really wish the Customer Service reps would go through training on how the systems actually work. Apology for getting off topic but if you think Foxtel's service reps. are bad try getting some sense out of Bigpond's technical support people - none of them have any professional IT training & most can just manage to speak English.

blairy Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I activated this service some time ago, but wasn't overly impressed with the quality. Since then I've upgarded my interent connection from 1.5mbps to 20mbps and I'm expecting the quality would be somewhat improved. Had a look yesterday, and everything movies, tv shows etc, attracts a cost. Is there any free/sample content one can look at it before paying for something? blairy

In answer to my own question, got the NP204 and connected it to an ethernet switch and everyhing works ok. Haven't tried downloading anything from Foxtel but content via my Blu Ray player works well.
peterca Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 One more question, does anyone anyone know the average size of an Hd movie dowmload, I've checked all the HD movies available and none give file sizes.
davmel Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 One more question, does anyone anyone know the average size of an Hd movie dowmload, I've checked all the HD movies available and none give file sizes. If they're encoded at the same rate as the broadcast on demand movies then you'd be looking at 5-7 GB per movie.

doodlefeatures Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Can you download HD movies? I thought I read somewhere that the downloads are SD only
blairy Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Can you download HD movies? I thought I read somewhere that the downloads are SD only When I was lookin for samples/freebies to try the other day I didn't see any HD content nd when I first looked at this some months ago it was all SD. If they're doing HD it might be worthwhile paying blairy
peterca Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Can you download HD movies? I thought I read somewhere that the downloads are SD only Box Office On Demand has some HD movies available but the normal Movies On Demand appears to be SD only.
Souwalker Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Box Office On Demand has some HD movies available but the normal Movies On Demand appears to be SD only. I activated only this morning. The Customer Service person had no clue what I was talking about and insisted the digi-path can be connected to my router!! She then connected me to a tech think that he would set me straight!! I got it all sorted with those guys. I was told all free downloads are SD only but payable on demand movies can be in HD. Rgds
doodlefeatures Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 https://www.foxtel.com.au/support/foxtel-on....htm#subtopic11 Are there any HD titles available via FOXTEL TV and Movie Library On Demand? No there aren’t. This is because HD download files are much larger than SD and therefore take a much longer time to download and it could affect your internet plan if your Internet Service Provider meters the titles you download. FOXTEL New Release On Demand has a host of HD content available to watch at the touch of a button as well.
The_Snowman Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Recently upgraded the Bigpond Cable Modem, so now I have a spare Motorola SBG900 Wireless Surfboard Modem. Here is my question, can this be configured to be connected to the IQ2 and the Bigpond modem? Any idea of the settings to use? Thanks, John
John G1503561101 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I called foxtel yesterday to activate on Demand. They told me it was unavailable because i had the old Pace iq1 model (no ethernet), and I needed the iq2. I said I wasn't interested in the iq2, can they upgrade me to the newer iq1 pace model? That would cost $100 they told me! Pi$$ off! Here I am, offering to spend more money with their on demand service, and they want to charge me for the priviledge!? Seriously, why would they add barriers for customers offering to increase their spending?
