ACTIVE SERVO TECHNOLOGY

Yamaha's Active Servo Technology is a complementary amplifier/speaker system utilizing negative impedance feedback in the amp and a Helmholtz resonator in the speaker to provide strong and accurate bass from small speakers.

12-INCH DRIVER AND 185 WATT AMPLIFIER*

High amplifier power assures enough power to deliver movie theater-like bass effects and the large diameter woofer translates the power into clear bass sound. The YST-SW300 has a frequency range of 18 Hz - 160 Hz.

MAGNETIC SHIELDING

The subwoofer is magnetically shielded so it can be placed near a TV monitor or receiver without fear that it will degrade the picture.

BASS ACTION SELECTOR SYSTEM (BASS)*

This dual function sound control provides bone-shaking bass, high-impact bass for movie effects and tight, accurate bass for music reproduction.

CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE HIGH-CUT FILTER

The user adjustable continuously variable high-cut filter sets the highest frequency the subwoofer will deliver. It can be set anywhere from 40 Hz - 140 Hz. For instance, if the filter is set at 75 Hz, only frequencies 75 Hz or below will be delivered by the subwoofer.

HIGH-PASS FILTER*

The high-pass filter operates as a crossover and can be set at 50, 80, or 100 Hz. When using satellite speakers, setting the filter at the frequency recommended by the satellite manufacturer, or at lowest frequency the satellites deliver, protects the satellites and blends the sound of the system.

SIGNAL SENSING ON/OFF

For convenience, the YST-SW300 has a signal sensing circuit. When the subwoofer detects an audio signal, it turns its power on. When it senses no signal for several minutes, it shuts itself off.

PHASE NORMAL/REVERS SWITCH

Makes it easy to phase the subwoofer with the other speakers in your system.

HEAVY-DUTY SPEAKER TERMINALS

Yamaha's heavy-duty speaker terminals accept banana plugs, spade connectors, and a variety of speaker wire, including heavy gauge cable.

SuBsonic is setting a new standard in Australia for subwoofers in terms of power, durability and value for money. No expense is spared in the construction of our world-class subwoofers. Our amplifiers are all high powered, capable of handling anything you want to throw at it, and our woofers are simply outstanding. Huge dustcaps, along with hand doping provide cone stabilisation and greater durability for those over the top action sequences. Oversized vent-to-woofer ratios stop 'vent noise' and 'chuffing' often associated with many subwoofers. If you want a subwoofer which has the power and grunt to handle everything you want to throw at it, then SuBsonic subwoofers are the perfect choice. Superbly constructed inside and out, they will turn your home cinema into an awesome, breathtaking experience.

Pic of 2nd version, mine looks exactly the same but without volume control on front- http://ocau.com/pix/dfjxz

The sub is an unusual design, dual

spider with a heat sink on the voice coil and is powered by a 300wrms

amplifier and a 10" Driver.

Here is some info on the 2nd version of it, very similar except the newer version has a 330watt amp and a volume control on the front.

Geez... you certainly love subwoofers! Btw, how's your take on the Paradigm DSP3400? Or still waiting for the Seaton Submersive GB?

  • Author

Haha, I love it a bit too much, i have 17 subs in my house at the moment :(, taking up way too much space, 13 of them are plugged in and run in my room. The Paradigms are good but i havent given them a good run yet, Still waiting to see what happens with the Seaton though, still interested but not sure if i will have the funds after my paradigm purchase.

17 subs! OMG! Care to list them down to share?

17 subs! OMG! Care to list them down to share?

Definitive Technology SuperCube 1 x2

B&W PV1

Paradigm DSP3400 x4

Definitive Technology BP7001SC x4 (They are floor standing speakers but also have the SuperCube 1s built into them in the bottom half)

DIY (15"sub)

REL (cant remember the model no. its a small cube shaped sub but is surprisingly good output).

Then the 4 other subs i have mentioned here for sale.

Plus i have a small yamaha 8" sub and 2 DSE 10" subs (the DSE subs used to work but both are showing the same fault, no power. not sure if its a fuse).

Wow.... how many HT set up do you have to accommodate 17 subs?

  • Author

only 1 setup thus far, hence why i have too many subs and too many complaints from the rest of the household when my system gets going on some heavy bass scenes. Actually these days the downstairs rooms vibrate alot (my system is upstairs). I am contemplating setting up a 2nd system downstairs, am half way there but havent put any subs in there yet.

Yamaha Sold.

Snell and Jamo still available.

I used to own a Snell PS10. What a great little sub. Not a foundation rattler at 10" but a great performer none the less. Good luck with the sales.

Definitive Technology SuperCube 1 x2

Would be very interested in one or both of these if you are ever considering selling them. :)

What would have the better output? Jamo or the Snell? How would they compare to a Velodyne Impact 10?

Not sure I havent heard that particular Velodyne. I think the Jamo and Snells are quite different. The Snell is a more powerful Amp and probably a more musical sub while the Jamo is more for Home Theatre maybe? Hard to say. The Snells are probably a different league but also aim at a different market, ITs a forward firing Sub while the Jamo has the Driver fully enclosed with 2 air ports. What were your needs?
