Drizt Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Hi Guys, Im going to be moving my gear to the back of the room and have started looking for suitable wall plates and sockets for my setup. Ideally I need: For the back of the room: a 6 socket plate that will have 4x XLR sockets, 1x HDMI and 1x RJ45 network socket. (If I can't fit this in one plate, Ill just go two plates) For the front of the room: a 5 socket plate that will have 4x XLR sockets, 1x HDMI. I found this mob which looks to have some decent gear -> http://www.cliff.com.au/products/wallplates/wallplates.htm Anyone care to give any suggestions on who sells this type of gear at good prices? Any recommendations welcome.

Guest JohnA Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 my advice for what ever its worth (usually nothing) is to just get blank wall plates, drill out hole and just pass through the cables. I am not a fan of too many connections in your case you will have from amp to wall plug, back of wall plug to back of wall plug in the back of the room. From that wall blug to pre amp/avr too may joins for this audiofools liking

If I ran a pj it would just use one long hdmi cable from pj to under the house to the processor no joins.

Having spent the last week witnessing impedance and voltage drop testing over extremely carefully terminated silver soldered crimped in line connections I am now more convinced than ever that there is NO form of connection that doesn't (however minutely) increase line resistance, not to mention the potential for fluctuations in line inductance and capacitance...................

The guy there (Hayden) bent over backwards for me and was extremely friendly. They carry XLR Wall Plate Blanks and all you'd have to do is tell them what you wanted (Male / Female) and they'd whip them up in a couple of days. My PowerCon Leads took 1 day to make and they shipped. They can custom make any cable/lead combination you can think of as they support the Pro Music industry. Good site just to look through as well. For all the PowerCon cables (I needed 7 with a few 4 meters long) cost me $270:00AUD all up including labor so their prices are very very reasonable Factory Sound XLR Wall Plates XLR Panel Mount Connectors (Various) I bought my RCA/HDMI Wall Plates from Selby Acoustics: Selby Acoustics Simply order from Factory Sound by Phone/E-mail and they'll charge a credit card or direct credit to their nominated account and mail them out. Ask for Hayden - he was very cool. Cheers Blade Edited February 6, 2010 by BladeRnR
