spalmills Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 (edited) Turned on TV this morning in Melbourne and ABC was on channels 351 352 & 353 - now a few hours later they are back to 20 21 & 22. Does anyone know why this happened? Edited October 25, 2008 by spalmills
alanh Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 spalmills, If the DTV decoder cannot decode the Logical Channel Numbers such as 20, 21 etc it will create its own starting at 350. This enables you to still select programs even if they are wrongly named. AlanH

AlanH thanks alan, i noiticed that there was a drop out on abc2 when it was showing as 352 which i havent had before when showing as 22 do you know why that would be?
alanh Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 spalmills, I would do a rescan for channels and see what happens. If you are having poor digital signals which causes the pictures to break up into blocks and the sound to go on and off, you will have to improve your antenna installation. Read Get the Best Reception, Melbourne and read the links. There is one other possibility that the MPEG2 encoder is being worked on, so if it does it in prime time the problem is likely to be yours. alanh Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 All, Since others are having the same problem it is likely that the ABC is working on the MPEG2 encoder. ABC Maintenance. Type in your post code and see when you are going to get trouble. AlanH

DrP Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 It would be more likely that someone tweaked the tables being sent to the muxer.
beeblebrox Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 ABC confirmed a problem from MT Dandenong over the weekend.. haven't had any details back yet and it seems a number of TV's haven't picked the signal again. the two customers who have called me this morning have LG plasmas.
spalmills Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 havent had the same issues with the channels showing as 352 etc but abc2 has dropped out a few times since saturday - havent had the issue since getting the new tv (pioneer) and antenna set back in March - surely its not a coincidence
TerenceJ Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Hi, Have a new DVDR with two HD Tuners since mid November,to begin everything tuned OK all channels including Dig Radio however this week I have lost audio off ABC2, my previous LG LST 5100P STBox has no problem with ABC2 and all Channels receiving OK, do you think an Antenna problem or is it ABC maintenance? I checked for local ABC maintenance and its showing no maintenance issues for our postcode.
digitalj Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 if ABC2 is working fine on your other STB, then that points to a problem with the DVDR, try doing a rescan of your local ABC Frequency, it's possible a PID has changed and your LG was able to cope, but not your DVDR.
