Anyone else have this? And how many other threads can I not see, until someone who can responds to them?

Not just you, I noticed it with this thread too but haven't noticed it with any others.

Anyone else have this? And how many other threads can I not see, until someone who can responds to them?

Take off those rose coloured glasses!? :D

(I'm thinking this might be related to the outages, so haven't bothered to start a new thread. Hope you read this Caniffe...)

When I first saw this thread on the "View New Posts" list, the thread creator was shown as manphibian, the number of replies was zero, yet it showed the last post as being by Franin. When I opened the thread, the only post I saw was the claimed Post #1, by Franin. Even now, when I go back and open the thread, I still can't see the first actual post by manphibian.

(And if I can't see them, do they really exist? Is this forum just a discussion in a forest somewhere? )

Very weird there MM!!

I wonder if the thread was added to manphibian's post count? :ninja::P

EDIT: Hey!! :o Why are my post being tagged with the edit marker now?? <_<

EDIT2: And the post got moved down the list to a later time post-editing too!!

I see the same situation.

Maybe the original post is "hidden" from view?

EDIT: Even more Confusing, go to manphibian's profile, change tabs to topics, and that thread comes up, click on it and it goes to Franin's post

Weird.

I blame Russia.

Additionally, some searches cause a large drain on the tables. When this happens, the "post" table is locked - which stops a lookup for everyone else. Please do your bit by narrowing your searches.

So no helping newbies Lyle by suggesting they search :D

Каждое всегда обвиняет Россия!!

Капиталистическая конспирация ....... :ninja:

You can't say that on a Public Forum. What will the children think? :P

Maybe some parrot droppings that found their way over here??............................ :ninja::P:lol:

for quite a number of attachements, I get the following error:

Sorry, some required files are missing, if you intended to view a topic, it's possible that it's been moved or deleted. Please go back and try again.

is this expected at this point in time?

yes

All images in the attachments forum currently probably won't work.

Ok, so I made a post in this thread (@ 8:36pm) and it now doesn't appear as a new post in either the main pages or on my post count.

However it does appear if you view the thread........

Russians again? :P

Peter,

Unfortunately you need to grin and bear it. There's a few things on their way, but there's a queue and we're not at the front of it at this point in time.

It would be easiest for us, and everyone - if people didn't post about "500 Errors" or "Heavy Load". We are aware.

I have implemented steps to provide the website to the majority of the visitors, and to do that some restrictions were put in place. These are temporary, but required.

hopefully this is taken as a constructive comment, and not a complaint ...

disabling search completely makes the forum almost unusable, as it breaks the "view new posts" function:

The error returned was:

Sorry, the administrator has taken the search engine offline for the moment. Please try again later

thanks for bringing it up AndrewW, wasn't sure how to say it myself.:blush:

Also, the 'query' thing at the bottom of the page you can click on, has that always been there or is my mind playing tricks on me? Does it do anything in particular?

~

... it breaks the "view new posts" function:

Yep, that stuffed my morning routine at work too.:winky:

Peter,

Unfortunately you need to grin and bear it. There's a few things on their way, but there's a queue and we're not at the front of it at this point in time.

How long till we reach the front of the queue?

And will the forum be fully operational once that occurs?

As Andrew mentioned, without the use of the 'view new posts' and the like, the forum is severely crippled

-----As with Andrew, only meant constructively-----

cheers
