Cooksta59 Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 does the 7002 do zone 2 and 3 outputs ie non powered? This is from the 7002/8002 owners manual The Multiroom System mode allows the same sourceor different sources to be heard in two rooms other than where this unit is installed. To use the multiroom system, connect the audio from the MULTI OUT A and B AUDIO output terminals to the MULTI ROOM A and B amps. Note: • The SR7002 does not have a MULTI ROOM B setting. Connect the VIDEO output (MULTI OUT) terminal to the monitor in Room A. (MULTI VIDEO OUT terminal is linked to the source selector in Multi Room A.) If a surround channel back speaker or speaker C (see page 38) are not used in the room where this unit is installed, the multi speaker system can be used with the amp for the surround back channel. Also, the COMPONENT VIDEO MONITOR OUT 2 terminal can be used for the monitor output of Room A. (This feature cannot be used with the SR7002.) This unit supports multiroom system functions such as source selectors, OSD menu systems, sleep timers and remote control. Does that answer your question? As for the avr, I'm going for the 8002. I'm trying to avoid going the power amp route if I can. So the plan is get 8002, then new speakers, then never ever read this forum again....theres already a voice in the back of my head saying...hmm "power amp"

astormsau Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 haha i wanted the 8002 but I dont need the power in my setup, even the 7002 is way beyond my requirements at this point in time. i just kept telling myself that i could spend the extra $$$ on a blu-ray player...

bdl Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 grr i can't decide between the 7002 and 8002 - starting off my ht setup, don't have any speakers or anything atm don't think I'm going to go separate pre-pro in near future.. should I just go the 8002? any words of advice? bdl
astormsau Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Never say never, mate, never say never. Also, you can never have too much power. i live in an apartment complex of 80 townhouses, i got in trouble and had the police to my housewarming TWICE during the DAYTIME on a saturday because of noise issues from my system.... and that wasnt even stretching the legs of the Yammie 757... so as long as I stay where im living, i certainly will NEVER need anymore power than this amp can deliver! because it will land me (as threatened by police) with all my gear confiscated... because even though technically you arent breaking noise laws, they can ping ya for a host of other offences and of course when i move, i'll be ready to upgrade again new toys new toys! so although getting the 8002 was compelling in a way, it would have been an unnecessary upgrade for me, since im still using SD-DVD I think a BD player is now in order

If you don't plan on getting a Power amp (in the near future) go for the 8002 if funds allow it. It will give you more flexability in your system design IMO. Cheers, Chris

greengumby Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Something that may help decide. The 8002 does have a compressed audio enhancer. Don't know how good those things are but might be worth it too someone who has an ipod or stores their music digitally. Just a thought.

jimmmy Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Guys If you can get a better price than this then I say go for it. Great value. 7002 8002 cheers James

Psycho! Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Chris always gets the best price in town IMO! nothin compares.
GSpot Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Heh heh heh. The Powerbuy is almost over and I haven't jumped in. I thought I shouldn't fight it but I guess I found some willpower. Chris, the Elektra group buy was awsome. It got me into a league I normally couldn't afford. If you have another group buy in the future for a pre-pro, I'm all in. Best of luck with the rest of this one. Cheers G And enjoy your new toys people.
Aspect Posted February 28, 2008 Author Posted February 28, 2008 (edited) Nah, I probably won't Gspot. I run group buys on items I want to add to my collection. Selfish eh? Once this GB is done, I'll have my AVR, so won't need to do buy any other processor. The next GB on the list will be projectors, but not until the next generation hits the market. I'm not upgrading until I can get a 1080p that with do vertical stretch over HDMI and has high lumen output. This is uncalled for IMO and is almost white anting, if you're not in the GB then keep your beak out, poor form again Agree, but seeing as our prices ARE better than that, it doesn't really hurt.. Chris always gets the best price in town IMO! nothin compares. Thanks Psycho. I push the retailers very hard, but then again, they come to the party agree to run the PB's, so in turn I thank them! So Gspot, you've got until Monday to decide. The GB finishes today, but the order won't be placed until the retailer has obtained all the deposits from those that have said yes. There's still time to jump on board my friend!!! Another reason I won't be doing a PB on a Pre/pro is because I haven't seen one that offers exceptional value for money. I'd be wanting one for around the $1500 mark to justify it. Besides, with a few "left over" amp stages in an AVR, you can power more speakers and zones!!
