rx2
Hi, I have just recently bought a Sony KDL52X3100 LCD TV and I am looking at buying a DVI -> HDMI Cable. I have noticed that some cables have DVI connectors that are DVI-D (Single link ie. 18 pins), and some are DVI-D (Dual Link ie. 24 pins). AusPcMarket even go to explicity sell a dual link dvi -> hdmi connector Does anyone know whether the Sony 52" handles dual link at all? According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dvi the differences between Single Link / Dual link are : Single Link - HDTV (1920 × 1080) @ 60 Hz with 5% LCD blanking (131 MHz) Dual Link - HDTV (1920 × 1080) @ 85 Hz with GTF blanking (2×126 MHz) I am assuming that most people have the single link DVI connectors and it is all working fine? Thanks Robert
Ajax9000
The HDMI spec. allows for single link or dual link setups (Type A & Type B respectively). I have searched, but have never seen Type B implemented -- i.e. HDMI is always single link. This means that you generally* don't have to worry about the adaptor being single link or dual link. * The exception is if you are using the ATI HD2xxx and HD3xxx video cards, they use proprietary DVI>HDMI adaptors.
