Who Else Is Looking Forward To 'the Departed' And 'babel'?

Featured Replies

These are the 2 movies I've been looking forward to for HD-DVD. My current collection is mostly made up of movies I've seen plenty of times and liked enough to own.

My favourite so far is Rebellion (Equilibrium - see here) and HP4-GOF, but am really looking forward to these 2 movies. I intentionally didn't watch them at the cinemas in anticipation of being able to watch at home.

I can't open that link at work. Is it the same as this Equilibrium?

I've only seen that one once, and I really enjoyed it. Although, I think it would have been a bit better at your place.

I was watching it on a 34cm TV in my room on a mining camp in the middle of the NT...

EDIT: at home now. Yep, that's the same one. Bloody great isn't it!! :D

I am looking forward to the departed on BR? Does this count?

I have the departed on pre-order from Amazon .... grrr its so popular that its sold out, although apparently you can still pick up a BD copy

I also have intentionally not seen it yet, and can't wait to watch it in HD glory.

Andrew.

Have both on pre-order, on HD-DVD. Interesting the HD-DVD version of The Departed is sold out, does that deserve its own thread?

yes, if the situation was reversed, because it would obviously prove that BD has won the war

check out avsforums, lots of people unable to get a copy on HD DVD, it was/is very popular.

Although apparently its pretty easy to walk into any store and buy it on BD ...

Maybe BD owners dont like though provoking dramas?

or maybe Sony's quoted BD attach rate for the PS3 of 80% was a complete and utter crock ...

Andrew.

my copy of the departed shipped on the 13th

Hopefully mine has been put aside along with Babel and NIN:Beside You in Time, which doesnt come out till the 27th.

My copy of the departed should have shipped..at least i hope. Cant wait to watch it in HD..its like my second favourite movie of all time

I've got a copy of each on order from Amazon too. Can't wait!

Matt

Only one format gives you these great titles now no matter where you are or where you bought your player

don't care if that sounds fanboi'ish. I just love enjoying HD movies

both on order for me too

Saw both in the theaters and "The Departed" I saw twice.

1.85:1 for Babel

2.35 for The Departed

There's good info at hddvd.highdefdigest.com in their reviews of both films regarding their audio & video on HD-DVD.

Are you running CIH these days Gino?

I think you'll really enjoy both flicks. How many films do you reckon you've put through your setup so far?

Got the departed yesterday on blu ray. Didn't see this at the movies and am hanging to watch it. The prestige is also pre ordered. Cant wait.

I havent seen babel in the movies either, lookign forward to it on hd-dvd.

both shipped today

I really want both these discs but the idea of paying $40+ for the Departed just irks me no end. These combo discs are the biggest rip off since the format was created - no use to anyone and no alternative.

So I'll wait a bit.

Yep, I have 6 combo titles sitting in my cart at amazon.

They've been there for a couple of week's while I procrastinate.

I swore I would not buy these combo's, but they are title's I really want.

I pisses me off that I have to pay $9 more to get a second disk that I don't need.

Yes, I noted those reviews in the first post.

Yes, running 2.40:1 CIH on 4m wide screen (169" diagonal)

Films put through, don't really count, but maybe 2 per week.

both shipped today

Both of mine shipped today also, expected delivery date Feb 23. If it does, that's just in time for the weekend!
