Altair Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Panasonic have updated their website with new LCD's. http://www.panasonic.com.au/products/categ...cfm?objectID=47 I'll be getting one of these for sure as I've always had a good run with products from Panasonic. The only thing that concerns me is the possible 'Made In China' tag.
Guest webmal Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I'm buying a LCD this week and very interested in the TX-32LXD600A. I went to a couple of retailers in Perth but no one can tell me when this model will be available. Is this model delayed?
Altair Posted October 15, 2006 Author Posted October 15, 2006 I'm buying a LCD this week and very interested in the TX-32LXD600A. I went to a couple of retailers in Perth but no one can tell me when this model will be available. Is this model delayed? This model just came out here in Sydney yesterday - I've been waiting almost a month for it. Went and had a look at Bing Lee and was amazed at the picture quality. I was trying to compare it with the new Sony V series, they both had an excellent picture. From what I saw, the Panasonic IPS Alpha Technology looked a step ahead of the S-PVA from Sony. I played around with the settings on both tv's, and the IPS was sharper, clearer and much smoother, where as the S-PVA had a bit of blur. Colour was good on both. The LXD600 also has 2xHDMI ports vs the 1xHDMI port from the V2000. Not many people on this forum seem to be interested in this TV. I'll be purchasing one when I get paid later this week, and post a review. Both TV's are Made In Japan.
RabidWolve Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Since learning the upcomming Full HD Samsung 40 inchers wont have a built in Hi Def tuner, im looking at buying a 32incher before taking the big step of getting a 40+ Full HD HDMI 1.3 TV next year. Can you tell us how many component inputs this TV has? & Whats the best price for this set?
Guest webmal Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I just put down a $1000 deposit on the 32" TX-32LXD600A. Got it for $2300, I hope this is a good price. Bought it from Retravision Mirrabooka (Perth). There's no stock in Perth, they told me stock will arrive Fremantle later this week and clear customs by next week. Hopefully I'll receive it by late next week. I'll update once received.
RabidWolve Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Ill go hunting on Wednesday to see this LCD. Hope my close stores have stock or a display.
Guest webmal Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Ill go hunting on Wednesday to see this LCD. Hope my close stores have stock or a display. If you're on the east coast, DSE PowerHouse has them in stock. Their ticket price of $2400 is pretty good and I'm sure you do better with a bit of haggling.
RabidWolve Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Thanks for that. Reading the specs on DSE it looks to only have 1 component input. I need a minimum of 2. Dammit, I wanted this TV
RabidWolve Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Got a quote from the Good Guys today. $2000 cash. Gonna wait till November before taking the plunge.
Guest webmal Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Got a quote from the Good Guys today. $2000 cash. Hmmm...I've called over a dozen local retailers before making my purchase and no one was willing to go that low...may I know the branch and the person you spoken to?

Good Guys Auburn. I went today to buy the set, seems a new guy started there and got the prices mixed up with the older models. $2450 - No Deal
Altair Posted October 20, 2006 Author Posted October 20, 2006 Good Guys Auburn. I went today to buy the set, seems a new guy started there and got the prices mixed up with the older models. $2450 - No Deal Got it at Bing Lee for $2300. That's the best price you're likely to get. This is simply the best looking LCD on the market. Well done Panasonic. I can't fault this TV.

Altair Posted October 20, 2006 Author Posted October 20, 2006 Can you tell me which Bing Lee? Bankstown. But you can go to any Bing Lee and quote that price. They can't do it for any lower.
RabidWolve Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Bankstown. But you can go to any Bing Lee and quote that price. They can't do it for any lower. Sweet. Thats the closet Bing Lee to me. Would you happen to have the person you bought it off. Just in case. Cheers.... /

Well done Panasonic. I can't fault this TV. I can! Set mine up today -- fantastic picture quality but tuner is not as good as my Toppy 5000 -- the tuner is a total waste of money from my perspective
selze Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I can! Set mine up today -- fantastic picture quality but tuner is not as good as my Toppy 5000 -- the tuner is a total waste of money from my perspective THammer could please elaborate a bit more. I'm considering a 26" for my bedroom and would use both digital and analogue tuner, I live in a good area for signal strength. Was going to recommend the 32" to my dad, again would use digital and analogue tuners but lives in a lower signal strength area. What sort of problems is in-built showing ? Picture break up ? Not sensitive enough ? Thanks.

I was considering the 26 inch for the bedroom but will wait a year or 2 -- by then cheap built-in digital receivers should be able to cut it in my situation.

Guest webmal Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I just got my 32" 600A yesterday. Here are my thoughts: Likes 1. Compared to the new Sony V, the 600A IPS panel has better colour and viewing angle. Images are clean and sharp. 2. Very good build quality, one of the few panels that are actually made in Japan. The TV itself is also made in Japan. 3. The speakers put out excellent sound, the fullness of bass is great. I was blown away when I first heard them. 4. I live in a semi rural area an hour north of Perth. The built in tuner is good, all channel is max strength except for ch10. 5. The SD card slot is convenient. It's also an MPEG-4 video recorder/player and can rotate pics and display them as slideshow. Dislikes 1. The bottom bezel is quite wide so it's not as sexy as some other LCDs. Perhaps this is due to the subwoofer or SD card slot. Overall, I'm very happy with my $2300 purchase
Neon Kitten Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 5. The SD card slot is convenient. It's also an MPEG-4 video recorder/player and can rotate pics and display them as slideshow. Is it like the 500A, which bizarrely stretched all non-16:9 material viewed via the card slot? That "feature" made the card slot on the 500A pretty much useless for viewing photos, and its MP4 decoding was decidedly on the average side as well... The 500A could NOT actually record MP4, though some thought that it could. I doubt this has changed on the 600A, though it'd be a nice feature if it could, and did it well.
nis200979 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 The only thing that concerns me is the possible 'Made In China' tag. From the same joint factory of Panasonic and Toshiba. Toshiba offer a 5 year warranty on their lcds, maybe that's enough comfort in regards to the panel quality. The new IPS panel is the best going around, the blacks stay accurate on all angles. I know most brands claim this, but Panasonic actually does. Thanks for that. Reading the specs on DSE it looks to only have 1 component input. I need a minimum of 2. Dammit, I wanted this TV Yeah, but inbuilt HD tuner, and dual HDMI sockets. Get a HDMI DVD (or BD) and that should be ok. Otherwise the Sony (same RRP) has dual Component and HD tuner. Less features though. (no SD card or IPS panel - I think Samsungs reign as best LCD panel is over) I just got my 32" 600A yesterday. Here are my thoughts:Likes 2. Very good build quality, one of the few panels that are actually made in Japan. The TV itself is also made in Japan. The panel IS Chinese - the joint factory between Panasonic, Toshiba & Hitachi. I don't think it matters. This has been confirmed by many Panasonic employees. BTW, Sharp is the only Japanese LCD left. Korea - LG & Philips Korea - Samsung & Sony China - Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi Japan - Sharp Anyone know,is that it or are there other factorys? I know they are attempting to create a mega silicon valley for lcd in a region of China, my guess is Sharp will be their soon. No name lcds usally come from either Korean factory.
Guest webmal Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Is it like the 500A, which bizarrely stretched all non-16:9 material viewed via the card slot? It's not like the 500A, my pics are in 3:2 aspect ratio and they have black bars on the side when displayed on the 600A. Hence my pics are not stretched, they look clean and sharp. The 500A could NOT actually record MP4, though some thought that it could. It actually can record/play MPEG-4 videos although the recorded (set on "Extra Fine") video quality is quite poor when compared to HDTV/DVDs. I've verified the video file via my PC and it's indeed MPEG-4. I don't think the SD card recording is supposed to replace a PVR.
