Hi guys, new here but just bought a runout Pioneer 530H @ $470 to replace my kr@p Kross 5188. The 540 gains 160GB HDD instead of 80, DIVX playback and +R/RW recording over the 530 but loses DV in & USB. Same deal with 640 but it gets 250 GB up from 160.

thats why i went for the 530/630- i can't believe pioneer removed usb etc from 640

The new Pioneer website listed the full spec for DVR640H. It states 2 USB.

one is for "connecting pictbridge compatible printer" and the other is for "connecting a digital camera ,usb memory or other usb device" note: only available on the 640 not the 540

Funny no one has mentioned yet that the new models "40 series" all can write to DVD-RAM. The old models couldn't do this. They could only Read. Big plus if you want to use DVD-RAM media, competes now with the Panasonics.
