You might want to try out higher bitrate (eg, 192K) AAC.. you might find its pretty much identical for your purposes and you save a lot of space.
seboon Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 (edited) thanks but can i convert it to that if i use windows with itunes? Edited October 18, 2009 by seboon
kdoot Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 iTunes doesn't read FLAC. You'll need to use some other piece of software to do the conversion. What you convert it to depends on how you intend to use the files. If playback through iPod/iTunes is your primary requirement, then Apple Lossless is a good choice. If you're keen on a non-Apple streaming product like the SqueezeBox then you probably want to keep your high-res files in FLAC and just make a compressed copy in something like AAC or even 256kbit or greater MP3 for syncing to your iPod.
ots340 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 rockbox http://www.rockbox.org/ presuming your ipod is old enough. then can drag and drop flacs without itunes. also songbird is a good itunes alternative, however no good for iphone/itouch and no asio driver support yet.

Same as above, no differences in sound quality ( my ear ) between FLAC and ALAC because ipod 120GB can not be rockboxed Regards
krebetman Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I have found dbpoweramp music converter convenient on a PC. Can't claim to have an iPod, but use iTunes to stream to an Airport Express.
