Firefox is able to change the font size easily, however Internet Explorer can't (with regards to this forum).

I’ve been using a little known feature of IE to get around the fixed font size problem for several years now. It’s found under

Tools...General...Accessibility...Ignore font styles and sizes specified on Web pages.

Note that some sites don’t look too flash with this setting, but you can do as I do and use another browser for those sites.

Another tip: you can easily change the font size in IE by rolling your mouse wheel whilst holding down Ctrl. (This works independently of the above accessibility change.)

I used to do that for those websites that use white text on a black background.. but now I just copy and paste into Notepad :P

My Keyboard  (note the slider on the left allows me to quickly change the font size in IE or zoom in on pictures)

I used to have a keyboard like that - then the ants got to it. Then we got an unknown hole in the wall fixed and no more ants

I moved house and didn't tell the ants, they haven't found me yet.

Hi, can I change the hybrid thread viewing mode to the old linear thread mode?

Is this a user changeable thing or system set.

Edit : Bloody Hell, the second I ask the question, I trip over the answer, always the way

That happened to me after a previous upgrade. I got so sick of it and just before I made an abusive post, I found the answer. I hated the other look!

Actually the upgrade doesn't force a view on you; chances are you accidentally clicked up the top.

This works in Firefox 1.5 as well.

This may be related to the recent forum upgrade......

IPB WARNING [2] Too many connections (Line: 124 of /ips_kernel/class_db_mysql.php)

IPB WARNING [2] MySQL Connection Failed: Too many connections (Line: 124 of /ips_kernel/class_db_mysql.php)

There appears to be an error with the database.

You can try to refresh the page by clicking here.

Error Returned

Never seemed to get it before and its happened 3 times now.

Just at random when going from one page to another........could be related to viewing attachements...but it just happened a few minutes ago after viewing a few pics.

Forgot about this thread...

Coral, I found another little quirk with Firefox... the "Add Selected Text As Quote" button doesn't work in a Fast Reply window.

So that's 1 for IE, 1 for Firefox I think

Maybe it's time to upgrade the database server/re-configure it so that it allows more connections.

What that error means is that the mySQL database is getting a lot of connections (usually happens when a lot of people start looking at various things at the same time).

Oh ok.....it was fairly late at night and there wasnt that many ppl logged on.....not referring to my end would it?.....as in my puter sending duplicate requests?

I would be surprised if more than one request from your computer could cause too many connections. mySQL by default limits connections to 100 only. This fiqure can be changed.

As it was late at night, it could have been a case of server fixing/tuning etc.

Coral, what's your take on this problem.

hi coral,

have we gone back to big fonts or is it something my end ?

Well Admin Kenny, I'm not quite sure!

The following attachment shows the MySQL server query loading graph. There is nothing out of the ordinary in this graph, and if we're hitting a connection limit, this error will appear at 2pm, not 12am.

I would be more inclined to say that for some reason, the user above's browser was initiating far too many requests to the server and IPB's flood control kicked in. It's a hard one really tho, MySQL might've been doing some optimisations at the time locally also.

Definitely, the query graphs show the issue should have presented itself well before 12am if its a server side connection limit. Likewise with the traffic graph between the webserver and database server. Nothing unusual there, either.

Let me know if it continues to pop up, but realistically - it should appear during our peak window of 10am to 4pm.

User to Deep Thought.......you can call me Yoose for short :P

Thats what I was wondering...is it possible my puter has been umm how you say...."hijacked" and whoever was logged in was causing the multiple requests?.......thats what I was wondering...if your "end"can tell whether it was multiple requests from my "end"

or

as you say...your server may have been optimising at that early hour...or even been flooded as in a DOS?

Just wanted to show you the error and make of it as you will...Ill let you know if it occurs again and keep a closer eye on my firewall, processes etc at the time.

love yoose all

I can tell you that I got the error too on that night, but it certainly wasn't from my end. It only lasted for a few minutes.

Yep, I had exactly the same error at about 12:15am on the morning in question. The problem occured for about 5 minutes and then rectified itself. I am using Firefox v1.07.

It's alright Mello, you're not going crazy like Santa.

Thanks Foggy and Davo

crazy like Santa?.....Not likely.....They broke the mould that day

Can I blame Firefox?

Definitely a strange one. Usually, performance graphs show something up if there's something amiss. Likewise with the sensors we have on the servers.

Nothing popped up
