My System Today

I believe it could be the source. Take Hero for example, on the B&W scence, there always this blue tint appear briefy on the spear, and always at the same instant upon replay. Convergence also play a part.

Try the 'gain' setting on the RGB. Maybe the gain for the blue is pushed too high until it blooms on the edge. Some times, on peak white image, the blue will spill off the convergence due to excessive gain push. Moderate gain setting can make image sharper too :D

Do access to the above hyper link to my humble HT setup.

1) Marantz SR 8200 THX amp for front M&K S-150 THX and M&K MX-150THX active subwoofer

2) Kenwood THX power amp for 2 side Mordaunt Short THX dipole and 2 rear Altec Lancing THX dipole speakers

3) Momitsu V880 with dvi-d to Marantz S3

4) Lexicon MC-8B digital sound processor

5) Firehawk screen

Things to comment:-

1) Center speaker ontop of the active subwoofer

2) HT setup in Living Room. From listening position and from the right the Living Room is sharing with Dining Room and blackout curtain separating it during music and movie. On the left is a small space leading to the entrance of the home and separated with another blackout curtain during viewing. At the rear is the balcony with sliding glass door and a blackout curtain would be drawn during viewing.

3) Intent to install acoustic materials in near future.

Any comments are most welcome to enhance sound and viewing.

Thanks in advance.

Lotsa expensive stuff.......... very nice.

Interesting & impressive setup.

Correct me if I'm wrong... I think I saw 2 A/V receivers, 1 processor & 1 poweramp. Surround decoding is done by the Lex then amplified by the Marantz receiver & Kenwood poweramp???

Just one comment. The way u run the casing for the video cables next to e PJ is a bit extreme... hanging in the air.. how did u pass e WAF?

Phil

Oh yeah huh...now that Phil mentioned it...and took a look closer at the last pix...wow...rather unsightly to have a PVC conduit extending from the corner and "hanging" on in the mid-air leh... :o :o :o

Your wife either must be a HT fanatic herself, if not...she really is a very "understanding lady" that listens obediently to her husband...hahaha....just kidding lar.

:P

saw the osim massage chair?..well, i guess that must be present for the wife..heheh..

I find the instructions on the Marantz amusing! hehehe...

Now I moved everything into my HT room.. my wife don't dare to use the equipment inside the room.

However, I move out my bedroom equipment & shes happily using it... AV receiver & DVD player. Theres just 1 catch.. she always forgot to "on" the subwoofer 99% of the time! :D

That's why there is market for system like Crestron, AMX Panja, Philips Pronto, Home Theatre Remote MX-3000 etc. One touch all go. I fancy the remote myself but mine was to cater for mum and dad so no call at wierd hours "why TV no picture...."

Never use high end remote control before.. but I think there are remote with macro feature. Something similar to 1 touch all go.. However there are still constraint unless all e equipments are placed in e same area. Unless IR repeaters are installed to relay e signal.

My Rotel remote got such function but too lazy to programme.

Correct to state Lexicon Processor sound is amplified by both the Marantz THX A/V Receiver and Kenwood THX Power Amp.

Anyone place Center speaker ontop of subwoofer? Any comment if you have tried?

i don't have this, but i guess it's been done. i've seen a pic of a coffee table sub as well. I guess if its where you get the best bass then its the best place to put it

I used to put my centre of the sub. But found out the sub vibrations affected the centre negatively.

This is my HT setup ;D. Think there is room for upgrade.

U might like to try e following to improve e sonic performance of ya HT.

Stand mount your front. Its too high & blocked by e screen. Alternatively.. tilt e speaker lower so that its firing directly at e sweet spot.

Likewise for your surround.

Phil

Yes, I am using Energy 5.2 speakers with Yamaha V640.

Panasonic RP-82 DVD. X1 Projector.

Thanks Phil.

I will try to tilt my speakers lower to see any improvements.

megaclaw,

How do build provision for the power plug to you projector? In case you want to replace your pj or take down for service. I would like to mount mine to the ceiling as well but no idea on the best way to do it.

Thanks.

You can custom make a powercord to run all the way from the ceiling to your power point. Good quality 1 is $10/m for cable & $10 for 3 pin & IEC plug each.

Phil

My temporary setup....

Lights on...

Partial lights on....
