Maybe use a hot nail to poke 2 holes then use a thread to secure the cap to e rack/mount. Use a white tape to cover up e holes on the lens side.

very good HT set up,think although quite a bit of the old model equirment, but many ppls will be quite envy of you overall setup and space, including me..

really nothing much I can suggest if we dont talk about deco style,except...maybe you can consider to shift the power condition beside the Sony power amp to behind the rack, for me,I think its gold colour not really match the sony gold frontplate...

IMHO what you lack now is only masking system and some nice HT chair~~~now a bit unbalance leh,one side big,one side small right? ;D

BTW you Grayhawk screen look quite white in the my moniter, maybe due to the low quality, or long expose time of phone camera...so I think you room should be very dark right..?

*also maybe you should try to shift your subwoofer to behind your seat, instead of putting infront,if you got space to play with....Jason Yeo and I both discover that putting subwoofer behind seat sound best because it increase the direct sound from the sub to your ear and less room reflection will be heard, and also can feel more impact of bass since you seat closer to it....just to share my little (dont need to spend money) experience.

Thanks, took a lot of effort to design the room... making all cables hidden but also easy to change.

Ya.. its been around for few yrs.. dont really intend to upgrade now as the performance is still above my requirement.. we also try to balance up sound vs. practicality eg the left side is actually a open space going to the dining area (ie only curtain on left, no wall.. but the curtain is very thick) hence the 1 chair reason.

thks for the subwoofer suggestion.. might try that later.

will post the setup in Singapore once ready.. waiting for the screen to come soon.

Thats a great idea!! Good for people who setup their PJ in e hall!! Cool... 8)

Me also using old equipments & I don't intend to upgrade to e latest format yet. DVDs with ES/EX format are not main stream yet.

Phil

you got a curtain divider??? Kept trying to convince my wife to let me install the curtain but she refuses... says looks very funny. So mine set up will be open to the dining area :(

Maybe u should try explain to your wife the effects to e HT experience you can get from the divider. Or come up with some ways to hide e curtain when its not in use. Last but at least. A 1 caret stone might temporarily confuse her mind for a green light.

more details ask my bro (nick Suwen)... he done most of it..

i think u can't directly upload your pic to XP....you have to upload it to a free pic webhosting service, and at photobucket, yes, you have to sign up a account..

alternatively, you can link your yahoo's photo account here for us to see..

Hi jw,wen & everyone else,

Managed to open a photobucket account & post my HT pic here:

its neat and tidy(mnn..except the cable behind the hifi rack...)

:)

but just wonder,do you think the sound and picture wasnt come combine well, as its not at the same height....?

if you felt so may be you can consider buying those wall mount spk and plac3e it beside the Plasma,or the other alternative is to buy Yamaha AV reciever that with additional two front-top spk to pull up the soundfield..

Thanks for the comment!!!

Yes, setup done in 2001, so more than 3 years old.

Yes, the power filter comment is very valid. I will relocate it to the back.

Why the chair one big one small? This is not actually a dedicated room. It is the sitting hall. So you can imagine how hard I have to fight to get to this with resistant from Mother and Wife. And now with 3 kids running around, I have no complain with what I have. Agree?

As for the sub position, it is there not for cosmetic purposes. The pictured position is the sub calibrated position. There is some basic writing at the SMR website for those interested. Behind the chair may not be the most ideal position for sub feel depending on your room setup.

The screen is grey. It look white in your screen due to two reason. 1st, my camera, O2 XDAII and your mon may not be properly calibrated... hehe... a good opening to my subject. Despite the prt is the 11HT, ie 650 contrast ratio, it is pushed to 720P by the Lumagen and most importantly, it is calibrated to D65 using a spectrum analyser.

One more thing, this setup is in HK. How can one complain with a 12.5 by 24 room when each inch is gold there?

see...I am also expecting my 1st baby at next year april, hope it will not affect my HT/Audio hobby too much... ;D

regarding the sub placement,a friend reccently point out to me that in the "the complete to high-end audio" written by Robert Harley share the same view with me,the reason he stated is exacty the same as mine...if you have a chair/sofa that is facing the screen, maybe you can give me some comment after you tried it,to see weather my founding suit everyone...

one more thing, can Lumagen output 1388X768? if I am not wrong its the native resolution of VW11HT, 1 is to 1 pixal maping is the best way to max to performance of Scaler + digital PJ according to my experience....becase not matter how good is you video processor, its is quite pointless if you need to pass thru the scaler in the PJ again..

If you want to convince her, go for a fixed wall. Maybe upgrading HK and change that part to a fixed wall.

Hi jw,

Thank you for your kind words.. ;)

That equipment is a Toshiba video tape recorder as i make use of it to receive TV broadcast channels..

wow..your deco very country look like.....especially your "fireplace"...haha..

Hi Phil,

Actually the Denon AV on the bottom right shelf is an old 5.1 receiver that i use now for multi-channel audio,SACD & Dvdaudio music...the one on the left is 7.1 Denon 3802 that i use for dvd movies... :)

Oh my god!! He got 2 Denon AV receivers!!! :o
