My System Today

Carpet it???? Good idea for HT. however, i dont think this is possible. For 3 reasons.

Anyway, you can see that it is reflection becos my window has no curtain now. When i am watching DVD, i will have my curtain shut and there shall NOT be any reflection (I hope).

No,I mean the floor reflection from you (movie) screen to you seating position.....

some of my friend who have Front PJ system in their marble living room didnt relise the floor refletion of the screen until I remind them,IMO this refletion is worse then ceiling in white colour because in some system you can see two screen in front of u when watch movie, one on the wall and one on the floor... :)

use carpet not only can reduce refletion but good for you sound too,you can roll it if not in use.

and FYI Ikea got some nice looking carpet and rug for you to choose and cost you less then buying a DVD.....

Just a suggestion.

  • Nice to be home after 3 weeks of overseas travel. Really missed our cat and my system. The world is back in balance, and the cat is happy. 😎

is it blockout material?

no blackout PVC behind but its good enough to make my room very dark in afternoon watching..

:)

3. That timber strip is a platform. Specially design to make my living room "nice". Putting a carpet to it will spolit the overall look of the living room.

one more thing, talking about want your living room to look nice ,you have to get a better looking rack and hind the cable and wall socket in order to really look "nice"...remeber~~messy cable is the most difficult part to deal with for a HT set up, if you want your system to look "chio" and at the same time sound good...

also,in your case, put you equirment with a two tie single hifi rack(like picture below) at the side wall make you HT look really nice IMHO....

:)

That is the rack that is an "extra" now. The rack that you see in the picture was suppose to be a 3 tier rack. however, now i only need 2. therefore, the last one was sitting there. (have already moved it away).

Cheers

Oh....just saw this, think then you should use that rather then the lovan rack below the screen, wall mount the centre and put the sub below it,shift the lovan rack away....then I think your system/living room will look very nice and "chio" liao...

my HT room look different almost every week due to some reason so I think no point post here at 1st, but after seeing so many set up,there are one thing I suggect you guy must try out~~~that is screen masking.

some picture.

last week my system look like these without the screen.

screen drop..16:9 with my DIY motorise masking.

now 2.14:1 with DIY motorise masking.

screen shot without masking..

screen shot with masking.

*note screenshot not from my system.

and also the black velvet curtain at two side of my screen is also use for masking 4:3 soure...

it is especially effective for those who using low contrast Digital PJ,once the gray bar on top and bottem or at two side has gone, you HT PQ will improve and you will more involve in the movie.

:)

Joamonte,

How you diy your motorise masking.. Solid man.. If it's not too difficult, I also want to try..

Yeah me also interested to learn from you on how to DIY the motorised masking... ;D ;D ;D

hi,long time no see....for your case I sugest this way..

http://community.webshots.com/album/20548922LrrFAMIZzI

becaue I am using a motor screen and need to use the space behind the screen for CD storage,my one I do it in a $$$ way~~~ buy a 2nd hand draper motorise screen and replace the screen with black velvet(need to change the roller bar to a longer one,as the dalite I brought is shorter the the screen I am using...)..........u can use relay and those remote lighting on/off switch to remote control the screen and the masking motor if you want.

some photo here, not yet arrange but you can take a look..

* think you need to resigter a yahoo account(free) to view it.

Seems very labour-intensive for me leh...Wow! But that's a very nice Masking System you got there... :D

Bro, you ah.....before you mention about it, i seriously did NOT notice this reflection at all.

However, i intentionally look at the floor(platform) yesterday night while watching DVD and guess what???? I see reflection :(

Now i notice that sub-consciously i will go and look at the floor and see some reflection. >:(

but still i dont think my wife will agree to it. Therefore, will see how in future :)

anyway thanks :)

the simple way is to velco two pcs of black vilvet cloth and attach them on top and bottem of the screen like some of my friend does....altough its "Manual mode" but I think its worth spending the time on it after you compare the different..

Not sure but at least its backlite.. I programmed my Rotel remote to control my PJ. So now I control everything from my remote... from e PJ to my light dimmer. 1 remote does it all! ;D

SP4805 is 16:9 native. In fact I'm using e default setting.. looks good enough.. might tweak later.
