petersv Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Hi guys, I'm a bit dubious about Morrow Audio... always have been... they seem to offer unrealistic permanent sales (between 20-50%) which makes it difficult to gauge their real value. I guess I see them as the (old school) Emotiva of speaker cables... relatively high value, factory-direct pricing model but still immature and not taken seriously by the community. That was until I noticed a review in the Absolute Sound for their SP7 (~$1.5/2m) speaker cables... comparing them against the Kimber Select (~$20k/2m) cables and finding them competitive... youtube videos of Mike Morrow at trade shows have him saying they perform at 10x what they should be priced at... is this real or just hype? Can anyone vouch for Morrow Audio speaker cables? Especially their higher-end offerings? Thanks heaps
Wayne Elliott Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Hi petersv, Have experience only up to the 4's in Speaker Cable & Interconnects, and find them very good. I have also put them in a mate's system and he is very satisfied. As for the 7's no personal experience but would think they would be good. I usually wait till they have a super deal then pounce. 2
petersv Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 I'm actually thinking of buying one of their $49 MA1 interconnects then using that for their Morrow to Morrow trade up program to the SP7 - would get a 50% discount ... but somehow dunno how this is allowed... buy a $50 cable for a $750 discount? hmm
petersv Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 with the SP4s, what were you using just before? I'm current using a pair of Kimber Kable 8TC...
Wayne Elliott Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Morrow have 50% off used cables at the moment, use code "music". There are a number of SP7's. 1

I did it in my mates system. MA1's to MA4, which was our plan, start off basic then build. Big jump in performance. 1
Wayne Elliott Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 with the SP4s, what were you using just before? I'm current using a pair of Kimber Kable 8TC... I've only compared them in my little budget system to SP2's and are better. Hope to compare them to some of my other cables soon in my better systems. Been busy with work and now with time off laid up with sinus infection. Damn.
petersv Posted May 28, 2016 Author Posted May 28, 2016 well... I pulled the trigger and a pair of SP7 have arrived... Over the last 3 years I've replaced my entire electronics chain 3 times (source to amp and everything in between), the only thing thats remained where my speakers (Bower & Wilkins 805D) and their speaker cables (Kimber Kable 8TC). Just want to say that the Morrow Audio SP7 speaker cables have been the best price/performance update I've ever done in the system, it made a bigger impact than when upgrading my amp to a Devialet. This could of course been partially due to the Kimber 8TC being a bottleneck on performance when changing in the Devialet, then unleashing its performance via the SP7s, but to surmise I am extremely happy with the SP7s. Really unbelievable how much of an overall jump in performance from these cables... much much better imaging, a lot more ease and emotion comes through the music.. extremely happy. 3

I suffer from sinus problems as well and the only thing that works for me is Demazin tablets. There is also the bonus cavity search every time I buy them. 2

petersv Posted May 29, 2016 Author Posted May 29, 2016 I ended up buying an MA3 and using that for a 50% Morrow to Morrow upgrade Could in theory do this with a $50 MA1 to always get 50% off any of their cables, dont have to wait for specials... always get the highest 50% discount then, saved a fair bit.. saved about USD$1.2k on a 3m pair of SP7 doing it that way

Steven Hinchliffe Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 FWIW I've got SP6's that I bought a few years ago; I'm very happy with them, and have a set of MA5(?) interconnects as well, which I'm equally happy with. I think Morrow cables are outstanding performance/price, and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again :-)
