Allow me to make this clearer. Correct me if I'm wrong with my understanding. I think what jkcs is trying to say is regardless whether HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 2.1, all HDMI connection is "backward compatible". This is NOT wrong. For eARC (HDMI 2.1 specs) vs normal ARC (HDMI 2.0 specs), this may be a little tricky as it really depends on the manufacturer's intent to make their products to work with both eARC and ARC seamlessly. With all intents and purposes, I'm pretty sure jkcs is fully aware that HD lossless audio like Dolby Atmos and DTS-X cannot be output to his old AVR (which only support ARC) since he emphasize in getting normal 5.1 sound output and never once did he ever mention about lossless HD audio in the likes of Dolby Atmos or DTS-X. So he is NOT wrong to say that it should be able to get at the very least, Dolby Digital + or normal DTS Core format to work since HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1 specs (with ARC as a subset) are backward compatible. The AV device (equipment) we use - i.e. TV/display and Amp/AVR should be able to "auto-negotiate" among each other while still using one medium - i.e. HDMI cable.
I have no answer as to why jkcs is experiencing "distorted" sound on his system while connecting using a typical HDMI cable while he have no issue with Youtube playback (sound is fine) while connection remain the same in both scenario.
@jkcs - Can you use other HDMI port on your Samsung TV which has no eARC label on them or are all the HDMI ports eARC-compliant?

Anthem seems to be carried by The Expert Group in Funan#4 now. Anyone auditioned it?
Haha...they don't even have one single demo unit for customer to do audition. Last checked was 3 weeks ago at their showroom in Funan. I have been pestering them since early Mar this year to bring in a unit of MRX-1140 and always the same response...no stock while US and some Europe market have stock. I don't get Anthem's distribution channel at all. Anyway just to let you know that the ARC Genesis room EQ still has bugs to resolve and it is not for the faint of heart. Users are like beta testers for Anthem's new product range. So be mindful of that even if somehow you manage to get a unit in.

Selling the player with a remote controller. This is a good replacement for Oppo 4K UHD player. It comes with stock firmware so pls dun ask me whether it is custom firmware or where and how to get the custom firmware. I bought the player strictly for its build quality and performance. It plays all region 4K UHD discs but region locked to A for Blu-ray titles. For DVDs, I believe it is region locked to “3” as well but I never have any DVDs in my collection to actually try it. Those I have are home-made titles created by me and clearly not region locked. Read the stellar reviews from various AV gear sites online. I've included a couple of reviews for you:
https://www.homecinemachoice.com/content/pioneer-udp-lx500-ultra-hd-blu-ray-player-review
https://allhomecinema.com/review-pioneer-udp-lx500/
https://www.soundandvision.com/content/pioneer-udp-lx500-ultra-hd-blu-ray-player-reviewThe player supports Dolby Vision, HLG & HDR10. Able to play SACD (hence earned the title of a universal player). Streaming via UPnP from NAS is supported. Loading time for 4K titles is fast. So don’t worry.
Used sparingly. In excellent condition. Comes with the original remote controller and box. Bought it sometime in Nov 2019. No more warranty.
Price is firm as it is very reasonable imo. No need to bargain as you should know this is one of the highly sought-after universal players since the departure of Oppo from the universal player business (only true blue AV fans will know what I mean). Another reason why it is so sought after is due to its ability to do custom firmware (jailbreak) to play BD ISO and make it region-free for all Blu-ray playback. I have never tried that since my primary usage is for 4K UHD titles and not Blu-ray or DVDs. If you really want to install custom firmware, there is a site to do it (I can provide you the link) but do it at your own risk. Don’t come crying to me when it’s bricked. I am not interested to hear your sobbing tale. You have been warned.
Interested party, drop me a chat to deal. Lowballers will not get any reply from me. Alternatively, WhatsApp/sms at 89325296 to deal. Self collect at my place in Yishun.
Update (26 May):
Thanks to a member here who informed me that Anson Audio does provide a custom firmware update for a fee of $400 for this UDP-LX500. In my opinion, it is not worth it but if you have the moola ($$$), I won't stop you.

As for the story and acting, there's not very much happening. Plot holes here and there. Most of the characters are just "playing their part" with minimal connection/emotion.
Millie Bobby Brown was a bit too "pretty" for her role. LOL! Maybe too used to see her as the rough and tough Eleven...
Agreed...with your review. I also didn't think it is that good. I will give 3 out 5 as well.

Tks for the view. No doubt it will also benefit single sub+small speakers setup, but the benefit will be less?
Am I correct to put the benefit in decreasing order as follows:
1. Multi sub
2. single sub + full range speakers
3. single sub + small speakers
Define small? satellite with high x-over or bookshelf speakers with a typical 60Hz - 100Hz x-over? whats the footprint (size) of your single subwoofer. Order doesn't matter (at this point). Dual subwoofer implementation is for smoothing the response within a given listening environment, not just purely output gains in SPL.

if system only consists of a single sub and all speakers are “small”, the need for the Dirac base control module will be less?
No true...you will still benefit. In fact, more important considering one subwoofer response will always almost be less than ideal compared to a duo subwoofer setup.

Yes agreed. Denon X8500H is a truly a flagship that is hard to beat.

I would always recommend holding off - if you can - till the new HDMI 2.1 chipsets get sorted.
I am waiting for Anthem AVM70 - it will launch with HDMI 2.0 but will get a board upgrade to HDMI 2.1 when the dust has settled.
The HDMI 2.1 models launched last year had a buggy chipset and very gimped. Denon/Marantz only has one input that is HDMI 2.1 40Gbps compliant and doesn't pass 4K120 from an Xbox Series X
I'm waiting to get my hands on the Anthem MRX-1140. When your stock coming to Australia?

Hi guys ,
Merry ChristmasFYI I’m currently looking to buy a external power amp for my denon x7200 ‘s 7.1.4 setup.
Would anyone know if I connect a external 3 channel amp to my LCR , can I free up my internal left and right channel or other internal channel for the height 2 ?
From the manual , I could only find that for 7.1.4 , I need to connect external channel amp for the height 2 preout
ThanksYes, you can do that. It takes the load off the Amp as well. But X7200 need an external amp for another pair of heights/Atmos speakers.

I think all Denon AVR in Singapore (except for the special edition A110) is 1 year warranty.
I think it is > 1 yr since this is a flagship model. I just couldn't recall whether it is 2 or 3 yrs when I bought it.

someone refresh my memory, what's the local warranty period for X8500H? 3 yrs?

Based in Singapore. I am introduced to this site by a friend who is based in HK. Is this forum based in Singapore or in Asia?

Add on to what Audio already mentioned...the doubling of physical RAM from 2GB for Zidoo Z9X to 4GB for UHD-3000 does make a difference when it comes to loading of BD ISO and 4K UHD ISO playback with full menu support. At least that's what I have experienced from my current setup.
