This is truly a fine high end fully balanced preamplifier.

It offers many features and comes with remote control and original user manual

This unit was manufactured in Japan around 1995 by Accuphase (Kensonic)

I purchased this last year from Willmax and have since had it fully serviced by RF Waves in Perth with new bass and treble controllers.

I am not making any profit on this, just moving it on as I have reverted back to an integrated amplifier.

Receipts of work will be provided on with sale.

  7. Hi, I'm seeking some advice on the mixing of unbalanced inputs to balanced outputs.

I have a preamp with unbalanced and balanced outputs and a power amp with unbalanced and balanced inputs..

I currently connect my source (that currently only supports unbalanced output) using RCA inputs on my preamp.  My preamp is connected to the power amp using balanced XLR cables.   I decided to use a balanced connection between the pre and power amp mainly because they have these connections and I've been lead to believe a balanced connection prevents interference and improve signal quality.

My first question, is this a correctly balanced system?

The reason I ask is when I first listen to the source, the volume between the left and right speaker is slightly unbalanced  but then a few minutes later corrects itself.   Sometimes the right channel is slightly louder and other times its the left channel.

Does a balanced system need to be balanced at all levels from the output source to the preamp and the power amp?

I've always curious about the Yamaha NS-B series & the Soavo series, they look great but I have never heard them.  I just wonder if they are sleeping giants.  Yamaha is a reputable company with a great history, still developing new products, so I just wonder.

    Anybody here heard them?

I recently purchased the Yamaha NS B901 Soavo book shelf speakers from Clef HiFi for $999 (RRP $2399) with free delivery.  I  was impressed with the floorstanding F901.  The B901s have basically the same mid/bass and tweeter. Awesome looking and sounding speakers.  I think the soavos are significantly under rated, most people want UK speakers but I can assure you the build quality from Indonesia is first class plus the range has 10years warranty.  When I first hooked them up they sounded a bit bright but after several hours of use, the clarity and accuracy is simply superb.  In a large room, they probably need a sub woofer.  I'm using them with a Yamaha A-S700 in a small room and they have ample bass.

    "Price Reduced"

Vintage audiophile loudspeakers made in the UK between 1981 to 1985

These speakers are rarely offered for sale. The 8 inch bass drivers have a laminated fiber/ploymer composition providing far less resonance. The 1 inch tweetter is the same unit used in the high end B&W 801 studio reference monitor.

    Specifications:

Type: 2 way, 2 driver loudspeaker system
    Frequency Response: 70Hz to 20kHz
    Recommended Amplifier: 10 to 100W
    Impedance: 8Ω
    Sensitivity: 87dB
    Bass: 1 x 160mm cone
    Tweeter: 1 x 26mm polyester weave dome
    Enclosure: sealed
    Finish: teak
    Dimensions: 504 x 254 x 254mm
    Weight: 9.3kg

These are truly superb speakers that are ideal for vinyl lovers.
The drivers are in excellent condition.  There is some slight discolouration on the veneer under the covers and a little bit of wear on the cloth corners on the top but really not that bad considering their age.
Selling because I now mainly listen to digital music and I have recently purchased new smaller bookshelf speakers.

Reason for selling: Swapping to Black Piano Gloss

This is most likely the first and last time you will see wooden side panels for an amplifier advertised on this forum.

I am putting it out there to see if anyone with Black Piano Gloss side panels on their A-S1100 or A-S2100 amplifier would like to swap to Natural Birch Wood.  I didn't realise how expensive they are to replace :/

The birch wood side cheeks complement the silver amplifiers (but perhaps no so much on black)

When I bought the amp, you didn't have the choice of black on silver

So if you want to change the look of your amp, drop us a line

  17. Hmmm, depends on outputs on your amp.

If it has two pairs of speaker outputs, I would most likely connect the second set of speaker outputs on your amp to the sub and leave your (higher frequency) speakers directly connected to the amp on the first set of speaker outputs.  I would try and avoid having the speaker signal length increased and bypassed through a sub.

I recently purchased a sub and was also a tad confused on how best to connect it.  Fortunately my amp had pre-outs. I could not use the two sets of speaker outputs because I prefer to bi-wire them to my speakers.

The sub made an improvement but it took a while finding the best position in the room.

Hope this makes some sense ...but please bear in mind, I am no expert.  This is only my opinion.
