  1. Yeh thanks for that discovered the weight factor....ooops, I found an online store with a retail shop and able to get it for a special $1,899 and pick up so no shipping, might look around elsewhere but doubt $1,899 will be easy to beat.
  2. The CM9's are a great sounding speaker however I have never been happy with AVR power for good speakers especially 2 channel, I currently have a rotel RB1552 driving a set of CM1's and they sound awesome, just a small two channel system but I am giving them a good 120 watts per channel. I tried the same speakers on an older integra and even on this small scale it lacked something....power for starters. I know the CM9's are a different speaker of course. I have seen some people go pre and run that for multichannel but then a power amp driving the front mains with decent power enabling far better two channel music listening, just my opinion but AVRs to me are generally weak and if you half the specification on their power output spec you are closer to realistics.
  3. A friend of mine has one, he said it doesn't do audio pass through, which he asumed it did when he bought it but once he got it he found other ways of doing what he wanted it to do, plus he picked it up for under 2 grand anyway so was happy....sounds awesome.... Correction my bad his was a T775.....sorry should have put my glasses on first...
  4. Personally I am trying to upgrade as well as I have run out of HDMI inputs on my Marantz. I have found most at a particular price range do most things as standard as compared with each other; you have the Denon 3311 V the Yamaha A1000/A2000 the Denon 4311 V the Yamaha A3000 but then you now have the Onkyo receivers coming in at very mean prices. What I am looking for is quick HDMI syncing but also IP control, as you can access settings from a web page or now most have iPad/iPhone control. With IP control though it kind of bumps the price a little but I have found if you do the rounds you can pick up some deals not to mention some of the overseas deals which again not too comfortable with but some look good. In my opinion the NR509 is not a bad deal at $649-$699 I think I have seen it for. I need more HDMI inputs so I am looking at either the 3311 from Denon or the A2000 from Yamaha both I have found on local websites at major reductions. The new Yamaha 571 is now out and while I don’t think it has network connectivity its going for around $699 and has 6 x HDMI inputs with ipod connectivity. I am doing my own research at the moment but it seems there are more bargains to be had this time around as compared to last time I bought.
  5. A year or perhaps close to two years ago I was in the market for a receiver but my specific requirements were for something to fit in a cabinet, something pretty slim but with good functionality. Anyhow I decided to go with the Marantz NR1501 and I remember looking at Singapore pricing and even other countries and the pricing was pretty impressive however in the end after doing a bit of research I didn't want to risk the 7.5% min tax plus the GST component plus shipping. I ended up doing some hard bargaining around the different haunts and got it for $150 more than the best overseas price I got at the time but I slept well after rationalising shipping, customs and warranty, plus they had it there and then which I think was the kicker not having to wait 2 weeks or whatever. That being said I had no issues with the unit other than some odd HDMI syncing but you kind of expect a little of that I guess.
  6. I found the Onkyo 708 online for $899, not sure on shipping though......never used this site before. http://www.directhifi.com.au/index/manufacturers_id/12
  7. That's a pretty good deal the best I saw around on those when I was looking was $1,299, i'm going for either an A3000 or A2000 meybe I should have a chat with them. Though I am from Perth was hoping for a local dealer so that I could pick up instead of paying shipping on a 10KG package.
