Drive (UK release) - $14 - - - PENDING Bridesmaids (AU) incl. slipcase and Digital Copy - $14 - - - PENDING Daybreakers (AU) - $8 - - - PENDING The Children (AU) - $8 - - - PENDING EDIT: that was fast!
  3. I posted this earlier in the "trade" thread, but if anyone knows of a JB store in the Melb (preferably Western) area that has the 5-disc collector's edition for $24.98 in stock, I would LOVE to hear from you. EDIT: otherwise I'll just wait for the upcoming 4-disc set, once its price drops to meet my tightarse standards.
  4. So, so disappointed with Prometheus. My expectations were pretty high, I admit, but it was just a mess. A beautifully-made mess, but it won't be joining my BD library until it drops under $10. Please, Mr Nolan, if you're reading this: don't screw up Dark Knight Rises. I just couldn't take another crushing letdown. Yours, GB
  5. I don't suppose anyone has seen the 5-disc Collector's Edition of Blade Runner for $24.98 at their local JB? I saw it at the Geelong store last week; I didn't pick it up then (of course) and when I went back yesterday they were all gone. The new store in Waurn Ponds didn't have any today So, if anyone stumbles upon one... I would be very grateful to hear from them GB
  6. Some people may think this is a cynical marketing ploy designed to sell more discs, hence they may boycott the theatrical release. I'm not one of those people
  7. Thinking of upgrading my trusty STR-DA1200ESB receiver... 7.1 multi-channel analog input. Around 5 years old, in EXCELLENT condition. Here's a glowing review. Looking for $250. I'm in Geelong, or can post/courier for around $50. Comes with original box, remote, manual and set-up mic. NOTE: I don't know where the AM & FM antennae are. Bummer. ALSO NOTE: has 2x HDMI inputs, but is a "switcher" only - does not receive/reproduce audio from HDMI sources (but will "pass through" audio to the TV via HDMI). PM with questions/serious offers
  8. Ah, I get it now. Cheers, Chops. I haven't seen the AVP films, and didn't realise they were set in the 2000's. Anyway... June, huh? Wish I had a hypersleep chamber...
  9. Regarding Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland: the TED talk he gives is in 2023; the 'Prometheus Project' gets under way in 2073, according to the corporate timeline. So the Lance Henriksen/"Bishop" Weyland is most likely to still be a generation or two away. Also: regarding the thread title... yeah, it probably could be changed, but to say "this movie has nothing to do with aliens" is just silly. There is soooo much evidence that places this film squarely in the 'Alien' universe. Also also: I CANNOT EFFING WAIT 'TIL JUNE.
  10. *raises hand* Also: Planet Earth - Special Edition down to £13.99 (£11.66 pre-VAT) at Amazon UK.
  11. Well for me while I liked Adywan's and hated Lucas's is because Adywan's versions simply enhanced what was there and the additions also enhanced what was already going on, while Lucas's 'new' versions 'changed' what was there, and changed them for the worse and his additions were pointless and only served as distractions from what was going on and/or opportunities to market more toys. Hope that helps to clear up some confusion on the matter. Yep, that about sums up my feelings on the matter. Lucas should not be too proud of this tecnological terror he has constructed. It's not an easy thing for me to say; Star Wars was my entire life from when I was 5 years old 'til my early teens.... now I'm twisted and eev-yil.
  12. Including these new Blu-ray editions? /couldn't resist
  13. Damn, missed it ... but Up and The Incredibles for $27.60 is still pretty good! Cheers, Dr Taco!
  14. Alien Anthology ordered September 22 @ 4:20pm, arrived in Geelong September 28 @ 11am, for ~$23.70 delivered. Not too shabby
  15. That actually makes great sense from a storytelling perspective. Too bad the "storytelling" itself isn't so hot in the middle section!
  16. Alien Anthology just dropped to £13.99 at Amazon UK ... comes down to £11.66 before VAT. Add £3.68 for shipping (if your basket is empty, as mine was) and it comes to £15.34 or ~ $23.70 delivered. BARGAIN.
  17. The DVD set is listed at £25.50, BD set at £32.30.
  18. Likewise. That is LUDICROUSLY cheap ... I can't see an Oz release coming in under $100. I recently sold off my original AU copies of 1-6, and picked up the Collector's Edition of Azkaban for $15.98 from JB (I'd convinced myself that that was the only worthwhile "standalone" movie of the lot) ... where's that "doubling (tripling?) up" thread?
  19. My set arrived this morning from Amazon UK, pretty happy with that! I won't be able to watch anything for a few hours yet, so I'll comment on the packaging instead: it blows. HARD. I don't understand why oil paintings are being used to represent the films in the first place ... then we get what looks like Boba Fett "fanboi" fanwank of the highest order ... and finally, the most nonsensical, UNEXPLAINABLE picture of R2, 3PO and He-Man's Battle-Cat encountering the galaxy's lamest Transformer. Seriously ... WTF???
