  1. Thanks DO, I didn't even think about the fact almost all TV outlets are on the external wall
  2. Hi all, A question for the installers here... I would like to install a new TV outlet in my bedroom where none has existed before. I thought I had it all worked out, I was going to get a "snake" or "yellow tongue" or similar to push the cable up the wall cavity and connect it all together, but as a friend pointed out to me, there are horizontal bits of timber in a house frame which I assume the plaster board is flush against, so how do I get that cable up past them? Do I need to cut holes in my wall to drill through these bits of timber? or is the plaster board not flush against the timber? any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  3. Thanks, i wasnt sure because because it seems so cheap!!
  4. does this card ( DTV 1000S ) , allow me to watch high definition TV?
  5. I thought i'd tell you the models in case anyone has any strong opinions either for or against either of them LG L226WTP-BF Samsung 226BW They are both pretty much the same price so that makes no difference
  6. Thanks Erasmus, both the Samsung and LG i have been looking at do 50Hz
  7. Thanks Rosepetal, I mainly intend to use it for general use and watching/recording TV
  8. Thanks for your advice, It seems i was a bit off on my estimate about the price difference between 22" and 24", also there is some difference in what the 24" will display, some have the same res, 1680 x 1050, and others go up to 1920 x 1200. If it is only a small loss of quality i think i will be happy with the 22" Cant go wrong with a samsung 2226bw for just over $300
  9. does anyone here know what would be a good monitor to use for watching FTA and HD movies on my computer. I am planning on buying a 512MB Nvidia 8800GT GFX which should be adequate ( I think ) and an Intel E6550 CPU with 2 GB of RAM. So what I really want to know is if a 22" LCD will display HD alright (as its MAX res is 1680 x 1050) Or is it worth the extra $100 or so to buy a 24" screen? Any help appreciated
  10. TCL is a cheaper brand, I think they are the biggest TV manufacturer in the world, or at least jostle with LG for that position. They also offer a 3 year in home warranty on their TV's
  11. I would like to know what you and steven1 consider good money, it seems like they would be very different figures. Personally, if I could make 50K (before tax) a year after expenses for a 40 hour week i'd be happy, but i having never worked in this industry i really dont know what the conditions are like, sounds pretty poor.
  12. Mate, Truscotts have a 40" TCL LCD for $999 I think it looks really good but have only seen it with the FTA channel 9 HD loop playing
  13. Thats just the premium you early adopters pay. such is life
  14. That is an excellent price for a quality TV, can't argue with that. But i still say the TCL 40" HD with 3 year in home warranty for $999 is a bargain, i had a look at it in the shop and looks very good, but of course everyone has a different opinion of what looks good.
  15. I saw the 40" TCL in Truscotts yesterday for $999 I thought it looked great, this lcd has a native res of 768, so not full HD. I was very surprised tho, for under a grand for 40" i expected a crap tv but it seems very good, sriously thinking about picking one up.
  16. Sounds like a typical microsoft product... I would be interested to hear how many PS3 units have problems compared to the 360 tho
  17. Can some one tell me what a good or bad specification for brightness is? I have no idea, so for example a TV advertises 450 cd/m2 brightness would that be average, good or bad? Thanks in advance if anyone knows
  18. Too right, although, to be fair, their half a game is probably better than a lot of other full car games
  19. Surely it is illegal as well as deceptive, i just can't believe they stoop so low to sell their over priced rubbish.
  20. "I guess it is the EPG where you can just scroll through the programme schedule find what you are looking for and hit the record button and everything takes care of itself. The recorded programmes are listed with title etc etc." Don't be too reliant on this, commercial networks are notorious for running over time and EPG recording will see you missing the ends of your shows, you are better off setting the timer manually unfortuanately.
  21. I dont understand why some of you are so keen to get an import for region A bluray, doesn't this mean you cant rent from the video shop? Maybe you watch your movies more than once or twice, and buying works out cheaper than renting? I know i rarely watch movies more than a few times and would rather rent it.
  22. The 40 gb model also doesnt have backwards compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games
  23. So are you saying 100Hz is a marketing gimmick? It does seem to have some problems and i've often read reviews which say to turn it off
  24. I'd say the two TV's are very similar, go for the best price with longest warranty
