  1. Hi Struggo, Just passing through Myer today and noticed their range of 37" Uniden LCD TVs which are available in both white and black gloss finishes. They're not true 1080P HD yet, but look quite good. I also read up on the Hisense range that J B Hi Fi stock. They expect to be producing a a true HD early next year. Apparently it is an enormous $6 billion Chinese company with a capacity to produce 11 million TVs a year, as well as mobile phones, etc. . Their web site www.hisense.com.au is still under construction. Here is a link of interest - http://www.hamarana.com/?p=248 Cheers, Peter P.
  2. Hi Struggo, That UK LG Model 37LY95 Full HD looks like a nice unit and reviews are excellent. I wonder whether or not LG are going to introduce it into Australia soon? Cheers, Peter P.
  3. Hi Struggo, Thanks for your reply and the links. I'm in no hurry, so I'll just sit back and wait to see what happens. I am impressed with Hitachi products (we have three of their reverse cycle air conditioners installed at home). The powered swivel base on the Hitachi also appeals to me! A nice touch. Regards, Peter P.
  4. Hi Struggo, Nice pictures! I was quite interested in the Philips 37PF9731/69, as it was 1920 X 1080P. The only shortcoming was that it didn't support 1080P only 1080I. When I enquired at Harvey Norman recently, they told me that this particular model was no longer available. Does anyone know if there is a new model on the way, please, perhaps with an inbuit HD tuner? I'm after a 37" full HD with speakers underneath. Does anyone know if one is available apart from the Acer one? I was quite impressed with the specs of the Hitachi, even though it isn't a full HD. Cheers, Peter P.
  5. Hi Bluedog, Thanks for the info. I will look for the thread on the 3705. Regards, Peterap
  6. Hi johnnysocco, Thanks for the comments. With the speakers underneath, the size is much better. Regards, Peterap
  7. Hi Bluedog, Thanks for clarifying that for me. Is that model 1080i or p, and does it support 1080p input, please? Regards, Peterap
  8. I think I'll take your advice thank you, and just sit back to see what happens over the next few months, as there may be further developments with both Bray and HD DVD.
  9. Thanks for the reply, PanaSung. Please pardon my ignorance, but is the Bray aspect ratio fixed at say, 2.35:1 or 1.85:1 as per movies, or is it selectable, depending upon the brand of player? Also, sorry about my typo! I meant of course 250Gb for the PVR. 250Mb wouldn't go far! I currently have a Wintal SD X10A PVR which I find works very well, but am looking to upgrade that, too. I also have a Teac and a Tevion SD STB, neither of which have given me any problems.
  10. Hi, I've just joined tonight, so am new to this game! I, too, am in the market for a true HD (1920 X 1080P) 94cm LCD TV. From my research, the Philips 37PF9731/69 with 3ms response time is a fantastic set according to CNet, but it apparently lacks 1080P input for Blu-ray. The Hitachi 37LD9800TA supports 1080P and has a wonderful picture and a motorised swivel base, but only has native resolution of 1366 X 768 and a response time of 8ms. I'm not fussed about having an inbuilt HD tuner, as I plan to add a HD 250Mb PVR to it. I am also limited in width to about 1100mm, so units with permanent side speakers, such as the Acer AT 3705-DTV are out. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should be looking for, please, as far as the TV and the PVR are concerned?
