  1. and yet another take on it.. we've got big windows surrounding our room with a PT-AE700 and standard vertical blinds. my girl didn't want curtains or pelmets so instead we installed black out pull down ( roman ) blinds between the existing verticals and the windows. the trick was to oversize the width just a bit so you don't get any light creeping in the sides
  2. speak of the devil.. look what i got in the inbox tonight... Dear liam, Thanks for your interest in FOXTEL's soon to be released Personal Digital Recorder (PDR), the stylish new set-top box that will change the way you view TV forever. We'll let you know as soon as it's available. In the mean time, we're organising a number of exclusive preview nights for you to catch a sneak peek of the PDR service and even sign up! We'll be in touch before the end of February with an official invitation. Stay tuned... The FOXTEL team.
  3. i don't know, they've been talking about a PVR since 2003 and i've grown cynical sounds more like a rumor. i spoke to a foxtel rep today and to quote them "there is no official release date" which means it sure ain't comin in the next couple weeks.. don't get me wrong, although i lurrve my tivo , i'm pretty excited about this foxtel one coming! in case no one else has seen the sneak peak... http://www.primetimeanytime.tv/ but i wouldn't be surprised if this is just a ploy to gauge real interest before they make any final decisions.. here's hoping
  4. i second what kep's posted... you have to go into the setup menu. mine required a PIN to get into it ( i think it's 9944 or something ) from there you can change the video output to S-Video
  5. hiya want to set the clock on your microwave or turn on your rice cooker, no problem. but god help you if you need both someone who understands their AV products and you're really up the creek if you get referred to a service agent.... i qualify this by... last year - a panasonic av reciever that i let overheat because panasonic told me via email that A the fan is silent and B the fan only kicks in when it gets too hot i was suspicious but when the heat cracked the solid wood marri shelf above it i knew that they were full of crap and that damn fan was indeed faulty. three visits to the service agent and six weeks later, i got my amp back but while repairing the fan, they shorted the rear speaker terminals!! two more trips and another four weeks later i threw a fit and got a full refund. i'm now happy with my pioneer receiver. six months ago - had a panny PT-AE500 and after 300+ hours the lamp blew up, literally. the service agent had to carefully pull all the bits of glass and plastic out of my unit. guess what? no warranty on lamps! mutha focker!! in saying that, i now own an AE700 and am happy with it. i got no flicker issues. so remember, no warranty on globes and forget getting any support from panasonic
