  1. The X1000R got some new black reels
  2. 8/1 will give you the stand but not the slotted box
  3. How do the Harbeth work in the room you have now? Bass wise etc I found the Graham LS6f really impressive in my large room (but close listening position) and perform much better than my larger Spendor D9.2 in the space. You could consider the LS8/1f from Graham as a smaller option. I heard them a while back and fell in love with them.
  4. Thanks Buddy. Prefer something local but I’ll see how I go

On the hunt for a pair of second hand Proac D20R in Victoria or shipped in original cartons.
  5. I didn’t want to die wondering - love this!!! It’s the audiophiles motto
  6. My kids Very fortunate Jeff from Technical Workshops here in Melbourne was happy to do a calibration of both Teac units when I purchased them. I got the X10R about a year ago whilst I searched for an X1000R which took a year as they seem rare as hens teeth here in Melbourne. Both units make me smile. The Akai x150D was a gift from my mates parents, I rebuilt it a few year ago and it’s a good fun unit.
  7. I’ve never seen one in the flesh, looks amazing
  8. It’s been a few years since I had the RP8 but The Gyro with the RB330 (before I went to the Audiomods s6) was a big step up from the RP8 in terms of black backgrounds and staging width. I found the RP8 to have a bit of motor noise (I can still hear it on recordings I made to my reel to reel) but it was less fiddly than the Gyro to use but isolation was an issue with the RP8. The Audiomods on the Gyro took it to a new level above its stock form. I couldn’t ask for more sound wise than the Gyro.. until the belt wore and it got wowwwyyyeee I feel the Technics doesn’t lose much to the Gyro with Audiomods arm combo and in some ways I find its drive and low end much more enjoyable and the pitch stability and isolation is very good.
  9. I picked up a SL 1200G late last year after six years with a Michell Gyrodec, HR PSU, Audiomods s6 tonearm and VHD DDT2 cart. I found I really struggled with the Gyrodec even though it was a thing of beauty. I found the routine of spinning the platter and then starting the motor, moving the arm over and waiting for the bounce to reduce (from spinning the platter) and then gently flicking the tonearm lift (not too much as to introduce bounce) was too much hassle for me despite the glorious sound the deck produced. It simply meant I stopped playing as many records as I did when I had my Rega RP8 and went more to my streamer. So the 1200G arrives, perhaps not quite the sonic equivalent in terms of staging as the Gyro but the 1200G does produce a great sound and it’s very stable speed and ease of use mean I’m listening to my records again which is the ultimate goal for us all hey!

Michell Gyrodec HR PSU Upgrade Power Supply 18 months old purchased from Carlton Audio Visual. As new condition. This is a must have upgrade for any Michell turntable owner. Pickup from Richmond in Melbourne or can post at buyer cost. From Michell: The HR Power Supply is a low-noise electronic power source for the DC motors as found on the Michell TecnoDec, GyroDec and Gyro SE turntables. Adding extra stability to the power supply for the motor, the HR features the novel Never-Connected circuit, and has a user-adjustable speed control on its back plate. Fitting is simple – just unplug the motor lead from the existing supply and connect it to the HR. An IEC mains lead comes supplied. Improving your power supply not only improves the speed stability, which you will hear on long sustained notes, but can also improve imaging and separation as well (as an indirect result).
  10. Fellow DDTII owner here and absolutely love it! They don’t get much mention on here
  11. Great condition! I’ve not seen that model before but suspect quite similar to the 2300sx
