Thought there may be Auralic fans that can use this as a Roon end point or similar, or someone that wants ability to install a SSD and have own music in same place as streaming services - which is what i did and liked. This will not come with the SSD.

Comes in original packaging.

NOTE. The Lightning DS app is no longer available so this device will only function if you already have this app, use UPnP/openhome control app or as Roon / UPnP compatible endpoint. I'm not an expert to say the least. Please do own research before enquiring or buying.

I had two of these and I know you needed the app to set it up and switch it to be a Roon endpoint or function otherwise … as well as other settings like updates etc and I think the app was only available on iOS. So if the app is not available how do you switch it to be a room endpoint or enter wifi details? this is a fantastic unit

ADDED: remembered it had a web interface for access the setup so just connect to your network via Ethernet.

Do these also have a Web interface? This might be how you set them up.

Below is the LLM result I got before posting the ad......but there was talk that Linns app had some limitations hence potential buyers please do your own research.

Yes, the Auralic Aries Mini supports standard UPnP/OpenHome protocols, allowing control via several third-party apps as alternatives to the discontinued Lightning DS app on iOS.

Recommended Apps

These apps work across iOS, Android, and desktop for basic playback, library browsing, and streaming from NAS or services like Tidal/Qobuz.

  • BubbleUPnP (Android/iOS): Popular for its flexibility with UPnP renderers like the Aries Mini; supports local files, streaming, and multi-room.

  • Kazoo (iOS/Android): Linn's free OpenHome app offering clean navigation and gapless playback for compatible streamers.

  • Kinsky (iOS/Android): Lightweight UPnP controller with fast browsing; good for MinimServer setups on NAS.

  • Lumin App (iOS/Android): Can control Auralic hardware in OpenHome mode; handles Tidal, Qobuz, and USB storage directly.

Setup Tips

Enable OpenHome/UPnP mode on the Aries Mini via its web interface (access via browser at its IP address). Pair with a UPnP server like MinimServer on your NAS for best library access. These provide core functionality but lack Lightning DS's advanced Auralic-specific features like metadata editing.

To be honest, the Lightning App wasn't very good. I only ever used the Bubble PnP and Roon. I would occasionally load up the Lightning App to check for a firmware update.

Good luck with sale!

I remember it was possible to do the firmware from the web interface.
