Xavian Grande Unica: A Rhapsody in Oak

Designed for real domestic spaces, the Xavian Grande Unica delivers full-range performance, building on technology from the Unica and models in the Natura series.

The Xavian Grande Unica 900 x 200 x 280 mm cabinets are crafted from 23 mm-thick oak in Xavian’s Hostivice workshops in the Czech Republic. Solid wood, not veneered composite panels, is central to the design.

Rounded edges, curved corners, and the organically shaped front-firing bass reflex port are created manually rather than through automated machining. The wood is finished with a matte varnish and a hint of natural wax that, according to the manufacturer, "sensitively highlights the wood grain and makes every detail a visual experience."

The two-way damped bass reflex design features precision Jantzen audio components. A 26 mm AudioBarletta impregnated soft-dome tweeter is paired with two 150 mm AudioBarletta mid-woofers, which use a special polypropylene membrane and a short-circuiting copper ring on the pole.

The crossover is set at 2870 Hz, with Xavian stating a frequency range of 48 – 20,000 Hz (-3dB on reference axis) for the Grande Unica. Sensitivity is 93 dB (2.83V/1 m), and impedance is rated at 4 ohms.

At the rear of the cabinets, you will find a pair of individually mounted gold-plated cable terminals.

The company says the loudspeaker’s high sensitivity “releases the euphoria, liveliness, and full energy of the music” and adds that “the depth of the bass is enviable.”

Fundamentally, the Grande Unica is created to excel in standard-sized living rooms, addressing everyday listeners' needs.

The company recommends placing the speakers 10–20 cm from a rear wall and says no complex setup is necessary.

Tuned for authentic, everyday enjoyment, the Grande Unica is said to accommodate typical rooms, furnishings, and musical preferences with ease.

Handmade to order, the Xavian Grande Unica costs €2,000 per pair, with delivery estimated at about one month from order confirmation.
